But my favorite parts of Sedona are the little known secret places, that you can explore and experience without the crowds. This gem is one of those secret locations. Sedona almost never gets snow, and when it does snow, it rarely sticks. So when a giant snow storm shut down the whole city last winter, we were dying to go out and get some epic snow pictures! Locals refer to this spot as the Birthing Cave. It is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy parts of the city. It is a fairly easy hike to get here, but getting up into the cave is a whole other story! It requires a lot of scrambling, and some serious guts! This two-bedroom house is a total winner—from the perfect location to the majestic mountain views visible from every single window.What truly makes this home exceptional is the "above and beyond" hospitality. The owner and manager were wonderful to communicate with and have thought of every possible detail. We were constantly discovering unexpected extras: a kitchen stocked with every supply imaginable, coolers ready for our excursions, plenty of laundry supplies, and an impressive variety of bathroom products to choose from.Since we visited during the holidays, we were treated to a winter wonderland. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas in every single room, including a gorgeous, glowing Christmas tree and festive candy bowls.The design of the home is fascinating—every room is centered around an intricate piece of art or decor, and the owner shared the wonderful stories behind them. It truly feels like staying in a gallery that is also a cozy, perfectly equipped home. After a decade of coming to Sedona, we’ve finally found the "gold standard" of places to stay.
