Pilot light was off and the furnace was old and tricky with a big dangerous flame. Also there are random notes around the house about things you need to do when you arrive. Some are tiny on the bulletin board that most people wouldn't see like turn the water heater on for the shower. It would be nice if it was more obvious and all In one place.
