The Bailey Ground Lodge operates as an offshoot of the Bailey Ground Hotel, which is on the other side of the small village of Seascale. There is no reception area and if you arrive in the evening - as I did - there will be no staff present. You simply pick up your room keys off the hall table. A self-service honesty bar is available - record your drinks in the book, and pay when you check out. The room was comfortable and reasonably well-equipped. Prices are relatively high, because of the proximity to Sellafield, with many hotel guests being long-term residents working at Sellafield during the week and returning home at weekends. Breakfast is available 06:00 - 09:00, which is ideal if you are leaving early. The hotel is well-located, with views over the beach and seafront.
