The decomissioning of the open fires was done to protect the health and safety of you and your fellow guests. As you point out, there is ample heat from our biomass system which has the added benefit of being much better for the envronment. We are sorry that we were unable to provide a turndown service, which you are correct is due to current Covid policy as we work to ensure the safety of our guests and staff. We will certainly be returning this service as soon as possible. For readers, I would like to correct this review in that our full honesty bar with selection of spirits, wines, premium soft drinks and snacks is still in operation. We always encourage our guests to raise any queries with us while in the hotel, and perhaps we could have advised as to what you thought was missing. We are sorry that your experience at Glencoe House did not meet your expectations. From your comments it would seem that you did not look at the hotel descriptions before booking. No where on our website or on any third party site do we claim to be a castle so why did you expect a castle? Also you (or your travel agent) made the booking and we make it very clear that the Bell Tower Suites are more modern in look and feel and are in a building 50m from the mansion house. Yet you seem to be blaming us for choices that you have made with all the information (including short films of the suite) available to you. You can of course book the Glencoe House Suites that are in the mansion house through all third party sites and you certainly do not have to book directly with us to stay in these suites. In addition, at no point do we say that food and drinks are inclusive of the suite price. The drinks prices in the in-suite maxi bar are at supermarket prices and the gourmet food in the suite is at cost price; no other 5 star hotel does this in Scotland. There is no mark up on these items, they are purely for guest enjoyment. We go to great lengths to make our offering transparent on all websites yet it seems you have failed to read any of it. Rather, it appears that you have read nothing and then penalised us when we don't meet your expectations that are self created. It would seem that you should do more research on the hotels that you book yourself so that you are not disappointed. Finally if you would have looked to the roof of your suite you would have seen "The Bell Tower" which holds the original bell dated 1927. Best wishes, The Glencoe House team
