Kentigern Shed at Scotland Yards

Whether you’re reclining on the plush chaise in the glass-paneled sunroom, or nestled in the soft pillow of sand just outside your door, refreshing sunshine is readily available to cleanse and soothe your skin at Kentigern’s Shed.
The interior is a work of art entirely designed to whisk you into a modern take on coastal homes. Minimalistic zeal pairs with organic themes to craft a strikingly inviting getaway.
Sleek black countertops with a restaurant-style sink makes food assembly easy, and the cleanup even easier. In the cozy master bedroom, the view of the trees is breathtaking in the early morning hours, when the herons are searching for their breakfast and the crickets are beginning to rest. For your stay, we’ve included two bicycles that are provided year-round, and two kayaks that are available from late spring to early fall only, for your safety.

Location is fabulous, but
Property was not cleaned. We swept and bought ant spray. After 3 applications they were no longer everwhere. Fridge had no door shelves, broken ones stacked on top. Freezer was caked with frost. Dirty dishes and pans in drawers. No storage space for dry goods. Stove has two burners that do not work. Description fails to mention bathroom sink is in living room. Bathroom was dirty- toilet was dirty. Shower is great, but you need to soak up water from floor after if you want to walk through to get to upstairs. Screen on deck is damaged, not effective at keeping bugs out by any means. Stairs are stained in very dark color making night time navigation tricky. Closet/night stands in bedroom are difficult to access if over 5 feet tall. Views and access to beach - fantastic! Bikes were old and rusted and chains had derailed, but an email quickly brought 2 replacements! Screened porch is lovely. Towels were wet when we went to shower morning after checkin. Uncertain about cleanliness of sheets as there was a small (nickel size) blood stain near the headboard. It is a great location and property management is very responsive. House needs a deep cleaning and maintenance issues need to be addressed. Can’t beat the location and the view!

Great weekend away from DC.
Beautiful stay, comfy spot, accurately described on site. Took full advantage of kayaks and the ocean. Brought bikes and took some beautiful bike rides. The ride down to Point Lookout is memorable.

Screened porch & balcony was nice. However, rained 3 of the 4 days there & cushions were wet. Unable to enjoy on this visit.

Point Lookout in the Springtime
The location and privacy of this property are wonderful. We slept with the blinds open, so each morning we would see the sun bursting up from the ocean and sending swathes of yellow across the water. The tiny cove and sand beach were sweet, and we did not mind the “houseboat” style layout of the home. I would say that the cleanliness could have been better- crumbs on the table, and we swept and mopped the pineneedles that had piled up in the upstairs screened in deck. Also, the amenities need up dating- there were no bowls for cereal or soup, and the only two wine glasses were mismatched tiny and big. There was no soap for the laundry machine, and 15 year old faded magazines added to the impression of everything being a little in need of updating. We really enjoyed our stay- it was a nice taste of beach life.

Sunrise wakeup
Perfect for kayaking, fishing, finding sea glass, etc. Unit was efficient and cottage like. Before you book Ask about who is renting next door, we had loud partiers til 3am on Sat night/Sunday am. Sand gets tracked in so can understand sand in floors, big dust bunnies in bedroom closet were a bit yucky.

The Shed at Kentigern & Kentigern - Love, love, love this place!
The Shed at Kentigern We stayed two nights at the Kentigern Shed after spending a week at Kentigern. It is the cutest, most unique, comfortable and efficient rental we have ever seen. It’s not very big, but covers all needs and was such a relaxing place. You wake in the morning and see the sunrise without even having to get out of bed. The screened porch attached to the bedroom is spacious and has very comfortable furniture. The perfect place to sit and read if you’d rather not go outside or have cocktails and snacks in the evening. The kitchenette has everything needed, including a microwave, toaster and coffee pot. The chairs in the living room are very comfortable. It is difficult to explain the shower/bathroom area, but believe me…it’s efficient! There is a little “two-seater deck” off the main room which is another great place to read, have your morning coffee or have your afternoon cocktail. Great place for a couple to relax and unwind. We will be going back ASAP. Kentigern When we arrived at Kentigern we were immediately in awe and in love. The house, the views, the beach…who could ask for more? We chose this particular rental as it has an elevator and I have a brother who has Parkinson’s. And we cook most of the time so the kitchen was great. Has plenty of room for several people to work together and a fridge that held food for a week. And the comfy sofas in the main area were wonderful. Great for a nap and my husband slept on one all night because it was so comfortable he never woke up after falling asleep watching TV! And a private bath for each bedroom. Again I say, who could ask for more? We did have a few minor issues, but these were addressed immediately by friendly, helpful staff. The large decks on each floor made it very easy to be in the sun or shade if you just want to hang out at the house. To get to the beach is a short walk; not even a “block” from the house. There are kayaks, bikes, life jackets and helmets. Most other places we’ve been you have to drive somewhere to pick these things up and PAY FOR THEM. So, you wake in the morning looking out at the water; you eat breakfast and drink your coffee in the kitchen…looking out at the water; then you have lunch on the screened porch…looking out at the water. After family left, my husband and I didn’t want to leave, so we moved to the “shed” next door and stayed two more days. We'll be back as soon as we can, but definitely for a week next summer!
