With oak shutters and thoughtful touches throughout, it’s the perfect retreat for couples or families looking to explore Suffolk’s heritage coast. Inside, the cosy living room features a wood-burning stove, ideal for relaxed evenings all year round. The stylish kitchen is well-equipped for preparing meals, while the dining area provides a warm and inviting space for sharing them. Upstairs, you'll find two comfortable bedrooms: one with a double bed and another with twin beds, making it ideal for both couples and small families. Outside, the enclosed garden is a lovely spot to unwind, complete with a patio area, outdoor seating, perfect for al fresco dining in the warmer months. Ideally located between Southwold and Aldeburgh, 5 Mill Cottages is just five miles from Dunwich beach and within easy reach of Snape Maltings, RSPB Minsmere, and many scenic walking and cycling routes through Suffolk’s coast, heath, and woodland. Yoxford itself, known as the Garden of Suffolk, has a grocer, two pubs, and a selection of antique shops. The village also hosts a well-regarded arts festival each August. With Darsham station just a mile away, and easy access to the A12, it’s a fantastic base for discovering the area. Ground Floor: Enter through rear of the property Kitchen Entrance is through the kitchen that contains a dishwasher, washing machine, and full-height larder fridge and freezer. There is an electric cooker, hob and a microwave. Dining room The dining room has a table and bench seating for six guests, a radio and a chest of drawers. Sitting room With a sofa that seats two, a coffee table, a second sofa that seats three, a wood-burning stove, a television, and front door. Bathroom The bathroom is accessed through the dining room. This is a modern bathroom with an electric waterfall walk-in shower, bath, wash basin, and WC, along with a heated towel rail. First Floor: Master bedroom With a double bed, matching bedside tables and lamps, a chest of drawers and a mirror. Bedroom two With two single beds, a chest of draws, small television and DVD player and a built in cupboard. Outside: There is a patio area in the rear garden with a table and chairs for six guests. There is a further patio area with a coffee table and seating for four guests. Additional Information Sorry, no pets. There is unrestricted street parking opposite the property in the lay-by and further down the A12 road towards Yoxford. This property is located on the A12 within the 30 MPH speed limit zone in Yoxford. Travel cot available on request. Dunwich manages to do just this. Known as the lost city of England, this tiny village certainly has a story to tell. Dating back to Anglo-Saxon times, Dunwich once stood proud as the capital of the Kingdom of the Eastern Angles, at its mightiest matching 14th century London for size. It was a seat of power for the Anglo-Saxon bishops for centuries, an international port, and the Domesday book of 1086 puts the population at over 3000. The little village of Dunwich was once a thriving seaport; but over the centuries the sea reclaimed the town leaving not much behind except for a wonderful stretch of beach. This expanse of shingle seems to go on forever in both directions, backed by low crumbling cliffs. Dunwich beach is set in a break between the cliffs where the road literally ends on the beach. Here you will find a number of small boats pulled up on the sand and a the National Trust tearoom. In fact, the National Trust own the beach and much of the surrounding countryside including Dunwich Heath which runs along the coast. This whole area is teeming with wildlife which thrive in these rare habitats. Just a short drive from Dunwich you will find RSPB Minsmere. Here you can spend a day spotting some the UKs rarest birds and wildlife including the Avocet, Bittern, Otter and Red Deer. The garden was a lovely place in which to sit and relax and we were very lucky wigh the weather.
