(excludes holiday weeks) Located next to Savannah’s picturesque Washington Square, (named for George Washington) The Washington Square Main House is one of Savannah's oldest homes built between1790 and 1810\. The award-wining, historically preserved home is a luxury refuge for families and friends looking to relax, unwind and explore Savannah. This home sat vacant and decaying for YEARS until we bought it in 1992\. Miraculously, we were able to retain the vast majority of its original details! The stair case, heart pine floors, windows, fireplaces and mantles are all part of the original home. No expense was spared on this painstakingly restored, but modernized historic mansion. It is fully outfitted with a gourmet kitchen and island seating for 3\. Doors from the kitchen lead to the lush, private courtyard. The private courtyard features historic terracotta statuettes and lush foliage. Table seating for 8 allows for alfresco meals or evening cocktails. This courtyard is shared with our guests that rent the Carriage House, which is over the garage and behind the courtyard. Our dining room and sun room are beside the kitchen featuring the original fireplaces and millwork. Guests can lounge in the comfy sun room and appreciate the courtyard views. The formal living room has comfortable seating and a large smart TV for family gatherings with historically preserved details like the original fireplace - no, we don't allow fires any longer! On the first floor is the first of four bedrooms with a queen bed tucked into the front window nook. There is a full bathroom beside this bedroom with a large walk-in shower and this bathroom has a entrance from the hallway for all guests to access. On the second floor you will find the other 3 bedrooms and spacious bathrooms. The primary bedroom faces Congress Street and with a queen size bed, chaise lounge and a LARGE luxury bathroom! This bathroom has a decorative fireplace, 2 separate vanities, a lovely soaking tub and a walk-in shower. On the other side of this bathroom is a large walk-in closet for the primary guests. The second bedroom has a King size bed, en-suite bathroom and closet. The airy and sunny bathroom has a soaking tub and separate walk-in shower. The last, 4th bedroom has TWO charming, TWIN antique maple poster beds and a full e-suite bathroom. These rooms are bright and sunny and this bathroom has a large walk-in shower. The front porch and entrance of the home has 3 steps approaching the porch. So it is not wheel chair accessible but it may be suitable for some folks with mobility issues, as there is a full bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. NOTES: \*Minimum age to reserve is 25 years old. No exceptions. \*Maximum occupancy is 8 people (at ALL times), including infants & children. \*NOISE: This property is NOT PARTY friendly. Beautiful weather, able to utilize the courtyard to play. It’s a “grown up” house. Decorated nicely, with large furniture and lovely (breakable) decor. Glad we were out and about most of the weekend. Didn’t enjoy the neighborhood noise- cars playing loud music, motorcycle engines revving; typical city sounds, however, the walls are not very sound proof. The original staircase is lovely but makes a ton of noise , while using, when the whole house is sleeping. Lastly, had a jolting incident with other tenants. After being on the property for a few hours , cleaning up after dinner, tenants of the “Carriage House” walked right into the front door insisting they were the rightful tenants of the main house. It almost got heated and took me quite a while to explain they had rented the “apartment above the garage”, which the owner described as a “Carriage House”. Spoke with the owner after explaining the situation. The owner uses the address of the main house for dir renting the 2 bed apartment. My advice- please refer to that property as “apartment above garage” rather than “Carriage House”. This whole situation would have been avoided if these tenants understood the correct description of the 2 bed property they rented. ##### Catherine F. Loved the quirks and beauty of the home. Grateful for the space to park in the garage, well equipped kitchen (for our needs), dining space, seating for all of us in the living room, and it was exceptionally clean. We walked EVERYWHERE! Great restaurants and historical sites nearby and close to the river. We are a family of walkers, so this was perfect. The only down side - the bath in the room with the king bed has NO storage (other than the edge around the tub and an 18” shelf) and minimal convenient storage in the bedroom. Everyone flew in and one drove, she was able to park in the garage. We didn’t need to use the car once though, we could walk or take a quick Uber anywhere we needed to go. The house was beautiful, comfy beds, great AC glow and be try nice bathroom setup for 8 women. We had a blast. Our only challenge was the key lockbox at the front door. A few girls had trouble closing it but I think that was more user error. Otherwise, zero complaints! Amazing house and amazing trip!! ##### abigail E. The dining chairs were very delicate so sit with caution. The beds are beautiful and very comfortable!! The bathrooms are luxurious! The home accommodated 8 adult women and gave us a special sense of the South. Location landed us in all our desired landmarks within 10-15 mins! The furthest walking distance was 30 mins to Forsyth Park. There was several homes in the neighborhood under construction but it did not interfere with our fabulous time! ##### Denise C. It was clean and modern with updated appliances and bathrooms, but kept the classic and historic feel throughout all the decorations/furnishings. Excellent property that was beautifully and historically renovated. Walking distance to the historical downtown, several squares, and also easy walk to the river front. Lots of restaurants in the area. We parked the car and walked to everything! Beds and baths were Wonderful. Kitchen was ready to use. Shared back patio with the Carriage House rental unit was a little strange, but did not cause too much concern. Excellent place to stay! ##### Tonia C. The decor was historic yet the kitchen and baths were modern and updated. The master bath is especially nice and large. We traveled with a group of 10 and there was plenty of room for everyone. The beds were comfortable and the linens were luxurious and comfortable as well. There is a nice sunroom and a courtyard for everyone to enjoy. The location was great and we walked to everything except the grocery store which is not very far away either. The property manager is responsive and everything that was described to us for check in and check out was accurate. We plan to return to Savannah again to visit and will definitely look into the property if we are with a large group. ##### Tracey Z.
