Positives: Really good breakfast on the beach restaurant - best we had on Koh Lipe. Pool is clean and really idyllic with direct access to the beach. Staff is really helpful and offers great comfort. Negatives: The rooms are pretty dirty, and offers medium comfort. The rooms ( the ones we checked out ) all had really powerful smell of fungus. Coming from the aircon - so bad that we had to abort our stay with astma and allergic reaction. The reception is only available during the day. So you are on your own in the evening if anything happens. There are staff in the bar but it seems a bit strange to us. The houses are big and clean, the bathroom is enormous. Pool right outside. Located directly at the beach. The only let down are the hundreds of motor boats along the beach. Located on the sunrise beach, you can easily grab the snorkeling mask and walk into the sea and enjoy the coral reef and see a lot of fish, recommend to do it in the afternoon. Room was clean and very big with a nice big balcony The pool was lovely and huge although the beach is so beautiful we didn’t use it much. The kayaks and paddle boards were free to use along with snorkels. Staff although were friendly and the service was excellent, they all looked a bit fed up at times. Breakfast was very good. My only criticism would be why would you put plastic cushions on the sunbeds? Large swimming pool, however a lot of plants in small island in the pool made the pool full of deaf leaves etc. So pool did not look clean. Breakfast from meny served at the beach side every morning, not buffet. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The location was close to Walking Street, but in a quite part of the beach. Be aware of glass pieces in the sand in front of every resort. It is pieces from broken bottles. In front of the hotel there is many long tail boats, but you can swim between them. You can also for free, rent kayak. Good location We have just stayed at Mail Sunrise. We had a Balinese suite which was on the top floor of a small 2 storey block. I was under the impression we were getting a stand alone bungalow but once we entered the room I was happy! It was beautiful. Bigger than the villa bungalows and after looking around the resort I think I preferred ours. Larger and more private. The room was stunning. Large and spotless. Beautiful comfy bed, soft pillows and linen, great bathroom and large balcony. We had a fridge, pool towels and daily bottled water. The resort was nice. Breakfast offered several choices and was served 7-10.30\. There are a few sun loungers on the small area outside the bar. There is no beach at high tide which makes it feel a bit tight around that area. The pool is pretty. Cleaned in the morning free of leaves etc, but in the afternoon it could have done with another sweep. Plenty of beds around the pool. Reception staff there till 5pm. After that the bar staff are around till 19pm then there is an emergency phone number. The best things for us were the room itself and the location of the resort. South end of Sunrise do less congested with people and boats. 10 mins walk to Walking Street and a motorbike taxi outside most times we wanted one. 20 min walk up Sunrise beach to Zodiac where people go to watch the sunset.
