My husband and I spent the Christmas holiday in Barcelona - from San Diego. The Umma B&B was exactly what we wanted. It was close to all of the public transportation, the metro, buses, tours, etc. - we gave no thought to driving. There were wonderful restaurants close by, as well as a Flamenco theater. Barcelona is the perfect walking city. The area is mostly level with well-maintained walks and sane drivers who stopped at pedestrian crossings. The weather was chilly, but we came prepared. Rick Steves' suggesting to get the 10-pass for all public transportation was perfect. In our ten days there, we bought it twice. It is a wonderful, thoughtful city. We always felt safe. Pickpockets are around - but we were prepared for that as well.

"Quiet neighborhood, out of the way of the tourists"
We chose this hotel based on a recommendation from a family member who lives not too far away. We had just come from Pamplona and needed to rest. We appreciated the quietness but were just a cheap taxi ride away from wherever we wanted to go. It is a clean, modern hotel and offers a decent breakfast. I didn't see the pool but know they have one. If you want to walk to restaurants and the tourist areas, this is not the hotel for you. If you appreciate the quiet, safe neighborhood setting, this is a good place.
I stayed here Friday till Monday with my 18 year old daughter, arrived quite late in the Friday night, staff very helpful and room was nice, plenty of space and very clean, hotel very close to Gracia and Fontana metro stations, just 2 stops from Gracia into the centre of Barcelona, would definitely stay again and am already looking forward to visiting again in summer.
Excellent location! Comfortable, clean and affordable. A supermarket just a short walk from the Apart Hotel has everything you need to have a great breakfast or meal cooked in the little kitchenette. Front desk people were super friendly and always ready to show, in a map, the best way to get to places. We would, again, stay at Mariano Cubi in our next visit to Barcelona!!
This hotel was fabulous. No gym but a great restaurant. Our stay included breakfast and it was absolutely delicious, made to order. The rooms on the main floor have private terraces for enjoying morning coffee or wine in the evening. Very close to subway and bus. I highly recommend it.
A predominantly upmarket residential neighbourhood, Sarria-Sant Gervasi’s principal thoroughfare is the Diagonal, the city’s primary business and commercial district. The area is good for shopping with two branches of El Corte Inglés department store and L’Illa Diagonal mall. Neighbouring Gràcia (east) is best for a more local eating, drinking and shopping experience while and Pedralbes (north) is also well worth a visit.
