The Gideon Putnam is a lovely hotel in close proximity to the Roosevelt Baths and Spas. As per usual, the room and staff were excellent. The dining options, however, are another thing altogether. I had hoped in the year between trips to GP, the restaurant would be better but unfortunately, it is still sending out inedible dishes. It’s a shame because the menu looks appetizing and there are no other options nearly as convenient, but buyer beware, it is horrible. It’s hard to screw up breakfast, but the cook managed to do that. My friend ordered an omelet with side of potatoes. The potatoes were under cooked and crunchy and the omelet was over cooked and rubbery. I ordered the oatmeal, which seemed impossible to get wrong, yet the candied pepitas on top were curried, not candied, making for an unwelcome surprise. I love curry, but definitely not in my oatmeal. What will it take for the Gideon Putnam to hire a chef that cares about food? When I complained to the wait staff and the front desk, they just shook their heads as though they’ve heard it before without offering to make it right. This is the second year in a row that I made a complaint about the food and was not offered a refund or some reduction in the dining bill.

Grounds are beautiful. Front desk people could be more attentive. Mattress, linens and accent chair looked brand new; however, furniture seemed old and tired. Room cleaners were very nice.

It is close to Saratoga Springs but just far enough away to enjoy the fall colors and excellent hiking trails. The elevator wasn't working when we stayed, but the room was large and comfortable. We would definitely book again.

Stayed at the hotel for a family wedding. Saratoga State Park is amazing! The history, the grounds, and the opportunity to be outside are unbeatable. The hotel is a little older and the walls are not as sound proof as newer hotels. Noise at night of people walking in the hallway and opening and shutting room doors can keep you up. It is a pet friendly hotel so if you like dogs they are everywhere.

It's in one of the most beautiful setting. Quiet and quaint. The room, however, was the most sparse room I've ever been in. No bells and whistles. Just a room and a very small old bathroom. Paper window blinds.

Once again, the Gideon Putnam continues to exceed expectations. This converted 1950s spa and wellness mansion exudes charm, offering a remarkable blend of comfort and cleanliness. The beds, in particular, stand out as the epitome of coziness. This marks my third or fourth visit to this outstanding establishment, and I can confidently say it won't be my last.

The property is gorgeous. Although the inside rooms and facilities are a bit outdated, it is a beautiful area and has so much to offer. The park the hotel is located in is a lovely walk. The hotel offers shuttles to and from the center of town.

This is a charming place but with modern amenities as well and staff is so helpful. The spa is amazing but get a reservation early. It books up. William at the front desk went out of his way to help me plan a safe route back to Texas as rain and flooding were happening. This is the only place I want to stay in Saratoga Springs

My favorite hotel when in Saratoga. Surrounded by nature, quiet, clean, green and close to the Baths. Great staff too. The only weak point is the restaurant, barely better than pub food, no healthy options.

Neat setting but basic room.
Difficulty checking in because internet down. Had to go back hours later. Asked where to go for lunch and was handed a list of every eating spot in Saratoga Springs. It was a Monday - many closed and no description. Also left out a restaurant 700 feet away in the Park. Bathroom was in tough shape. Faucets crusted, pipes old and covered with many layers of paint. Paint on the wall needed at least one more coat. It was clean. Furniture nicked and sad. Some sort of a contant mechanical sound coming from somewhere. It never stopped.

The room was very outdated, bathtub was clogged and the towel holder and toilet paper holder broken, there was someone’s food in the fridge when we got there and the room was freezing cold, took the entire day to get the temperature up

Beautiful older hotel. A big grand old hotel right in the middle of the spa park. Loads for trails and green space right out the front door. Very clean and updated so it doesn’t feel old & out-dated. The price was very reasonable as well. Very good value for the money.
