My husband enjoyed fly fishing in the river right outside the backdoor and caught some impressive trout. The location is one of six properties that share access to private trails, making hiking incredibly convenient. We also made great use of the on-site sauna, which was a fantastic bonus. The adventurous route can be tricky if you’re not used to mountain hiking. Our dogs loved playing in the creek. And I was even able to catch a few trout. An added bonus is the house is close to lots of other waterfalls and trails too. We were able to hike 7 waterfalls in a little more than half a day. We stayed during the “off season” so most places were not busy and easy to get in to. Be sure to check out the local events. We went to a few of the “12 days of Christmas” and were able to meet some really nice locals. Great experience to get away (zero cell service 🙌) and have fun. ##### Jud O. Mar 29, 2025 #### Spring break 2025 Lost Cove is a beautiful spacious house nestled in the woods on the Blue Ridge mountains of NC on a private river bank with hiking trails to 6 waterfalls & an old school bus for picture op. We spent 4 cozy nights and had a fabulous time while there enjoying the views from sitting on the screened in porch to the deck with a grills and tables to the chaira around the firepit that we roasted hotdogs and made our favorite s'mores from. We spent good quality time together laughing, playing cards, doing puzzles and listening to albums on their record player singing and dancing. We made unforgettable memories on this trip with my 2 DILs & grandkids (ranging from almost 2 to almost 17), some even did a cold plunge challenge getting in the freezing cold river and running quickly to the nice hot suana 😆 While in Cashiers went to Slabtown Pizza, the kids played cornhole, tag & hide n seek while eating great food, in the same strip was Crossroads Custards for scrumptious custom made desserts. We also went site seeing in Sylva, Cherokee, Cullohee & Tuskasegee, lots of fun things to do and see, like the Judaculla Rock, waterfalls & parks. We also went to Franklin to the Factory great family fun with go carts, bumper cars, trampolines & arcade games! The last day I found out we were only 9 miles to the NC SC GA state lines that lead to Ellicott marker trail so we loaded up and hiked part of that trial too! If you want privacy and room to roam, this is tough to beat. We hiked 2 full days straight from the house and didn't see another person either day. Amazing waterfall after waterfall, jumping holes, lagoons to relax and play in, etc. The host provides great details and instructions how to access all the best spots right from the house. We also loved the peaceful gazebo along the river for grilling, fishing, and playing in the river at night. The sauna was an added bonus. We cooked most meals at the house but also made the quick trip into Cashiers for dinner a couple nights.
