In the very early days of Seaside, town architect Richard Gibbs and his partner chose to design and build their rustic cabin in the woods just as Forest Street was beginning to be developed. Way Back is their original and well- preserved cottage in this heralded beach community. Among the most frequently rented and beloved one-bedroom Seaside cottages over the years, tranquil and cozy Way Back retains its Seaside architectural authenticity.
Among the very few pet-friendly rental cottages in Seaside, Way Back is ideal for a couple or solo traveller. Positioned just three houses from national heritage listed Seaside Chapel, Way Back provides a private and relaxing connect to the core of Seaside. A stay at Way Back serves as the perfect venue for beach access (a five minute walk), vibrant town center restaurants and shopping and wooded trails for hiking and bike exploration.
A reserved parking place in front of the cottage leads via a timber boardwalk through a shady front garden with outdoor seating to the spacious front deck. Furnishings and artworks have been updated in the ground floor living/dining/kitchen area, while the original timber walls and floors are reminders that inspired architecture and craftsmanship never go out of style. The compact stainless galley kitchen features new appliances including fridge/freezer/ice maker, countertop convection oven, four-burner gas cooktop, and a small microwave. The dining space features a compact table which easily expands with an included extra leaf and two dining chairs.
An easily accessed staircase leads to the upstairs queen bedroom with Juliette balcony in the treetops. The updated bathroom features a new heated floor, vanity and shower. Recent additions to the bedroom area include a clothes closet and credenza with ample storage. New outdoor additions to Way Back include a gas BBQ grill, outdoor shower and refreshed landscaping.
Rentals include high speed wi-fi, cable TV in both the living room and bedroom, two bicycles, access to swim, fitness and tennis centers, beach pavilion access, and a beach bag of arrival welcome amenities, including wine.
3 night minimum Spring, Spring Break, Summer, and Fall; 2 night minimum Winter. Must be 25 years of age to rent and sign registration.
