Rochinha’s house with fabulous views over the bay of funchal
9.4 out of 10, Exceptional, (44)
"Good communication with Carolina, close to the old town approx 15-20 min walk to cable car, there is a very steep walk back to the property. Unfortunately due to storm Oscar we weren’t able to use the pool. But the garden is surprisingly private. Property was clean and comfortable We used a taxi driver called Nuno, recommended by Carolina to collect us from the airport, he also took us on a lovely day tour around the north of the island, then back to the airport. Quinta Bela Sao Tiago
4.0 star property
8.4 out of 10, Very good, (144)
"A bit of a mixed review. I could not contact the hotel via email or the Expedia app (quintabelasaotiago.com is not the domain name for the hotel email) prior to arrival. some of the front desk staff (Nadia) are excellent as is Sa in the restaurant but others are surly and disinterested. We asked to borrow an iron and were told at the front desk that we would have to pay - then it never turned up since the only way to get clothes ironed is to use the laundry service. We asked for a replacement...

Pensão Residencial Mirasol
3.0 star property
7.8 out of 10, Good, (52)
"I stayed for six nights - an older, solo traveler. I was greeted warmly by the owners, and I found all the staff members I had contact with to be friendly, helpful, and informative. I also found the other guests to be cheerful and interesting, no doubt an outgrowth of Pensao Mirasol's atmosphere, when we interacted in the dining area. I'll stay there again the next time I'm in Funchal."
