Staff was very friendly! Spent 8 days here on our honeymoon and would recommend to anyone. Nothing bad at all. The room was not sound proof so you could hear other guests come and go but after all, it is a hotel, LOL!

Friendly staff, great breakfast, very good food in their restaurant with at times really slow and bad service. Hot water in the bathroom can be dangerously hot. Great location. We have stayed here before, many times, and will stay here again.

The hotel was terrible, from the moment we arrived we were given the room we didn’t book jus 1 tiny double room instead of superior suite with queen bed and single bed. The pillows and towels old and pillows stitched with a black thread unprofessionally probably hand stitching. Breakfast was terrible the bread was dry & stale, serving plates were tiny side plates. Fruits were not fresh the papaya looked very mashed, they do not serve fresh breakfast, I regret booking this hotel & will never again The bed was not comfortable and was not the same size as the mattress, is this place a cheap hostel? Because clearly it doesn’t deserve even 3stars. The mini fridge was full when we arrived and nobody told us that if we use the drinks we need to pay for them.. at least give guest a brochure on their arrival so that they know they don’t touch drinks in the mini bar, instead we will have a choice of going for drinks outside.. I was charged for drinks we used after I thought they came with the package of the booking. I should have stayed at the other hotel instead of coming to this hotel, loud noise at night, and the corridors too stuffy & hot, 👎👎

Tranquil Hotel Santa Maria
Tiny little hotel on a lively street with the most charming, accomodating staff. Perfect value for the money + a nice little restaurant downstairs with adorable cats who sleep on the roof across the way. Picturesque + a lovely landing for an entree into Praia + all it has to offer.

Right downtown on pedestrian mall. Staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient. The breakfast people were run ragged trying to keep the food replenished and clean the area. Commendable.

It was clean and felt safe inside the property. Front desk representative was very professional and apologetic for miscommunication. The only thing was that the area was a bit sketchy, since I arrived late night and left early morning so didn't see the day activity around the hotel.

Great little hotel, in City Centre
The hotel is in a great location in the centre of town. Breakfast had a great selection of food to choose from.The staff were friendly and helpful. Especially Cynthia, who is a bundle of energy and good humour, made us laugh. There was great music one of the nights, on the street terrace, with locals sashaying past enjoying the music alongside guests. Overall I'd highly recommend this place to stay.

Well presented town centre hotel
Property is located in a pedestrian street in the centre of Praia town and is within 5 minutes’ walk of the town’s main park, a supermarket, the presidential palace and multiple small shops / cafes. Football / fishing beaches are 10 minutes’ walk down the hill, tourist beaches are 20 to 30 minutes’ walk in the same direction. Checkin desk didn’t have enough change when I paid my non-prepaid taxes on arrival with cash, but were helpful in terms of arranging taxies and dealing with other issues. Room was pleasant, well presented and had good air-conditioning, but there was an immediate aroma of stale water on first entering and the toiletries / towels provided often weren’t adequate. Found the shower difficult to regulate and it was easy to pump the tap and cause it to suddenly boil or freeze. Had an issue with my room not being cleaned one day and found that the wifi only worked if standing right at the door (wouldn’t work at the desk or in any of the main areas of the room). Breakfast was simple but runs until 10:30 each day, tea making is provided but new tea bags/sugar weren’t, the bed sloped to the left and the in room mini-bar fridge and the TV remote didn’t work. Reasonably pleasant reasonably quiet town based place to stay.

Praia - not quiet as expected.
I think the hotel has recently being refurbished and there was no bars/restaurants, balcony/patio & no airport transfer - all of which were mentioned in the hotels.com details. I did find the staff at the hotel very friendly and helpful. There is not much to do in Praia and my stay of 13/14 nights was too long, but overall a very pleasant stay over the Christmas period.

do not go there its a total rip off
I changed room twice as it was not possible to open window and when u take shower u cant breathe. The description on hotel.com website is not correct there is no ocean view as it says. Too noisy rooms. No iron, breakfast is available only after 7.30 when everybody has left as most flights are very early or the tours also start very early.

Rooms with creaking door that rattles all night
My room was at the end of a hallway leading to an exit on to a rooftop. The result was a wind tunnel that made my room door rattle all night. A chair up against it or other means did not work so I was awake all night. And a whistling breeze is scary in the dark of night. I slept very little and kept checking the hall in case someone was outside. Could not take it in the end & glad to leave

This Hotel is on a pedestrian street in the nicest part of Praia. The rooms are OK and the staff are helpful. There are TV channels in a number of different languages. The breakfast is included but is not great unless you get there really early. I'd stay there again if I was in Praia.

Wir bekamen ein sehr kleines Zimmer im Erdgeschoss mit Fenster zu einem Lichtschacht. Das Fenster ließ sich nicht richtig schließen, weil ein Stromkabel durchgeführt war. Da Zimmer roch sehr stark nach Zigaretten-Rauch. Nach unserer Beschwerde, bekammen wir ein etwas größeres Zimmer in der zweiten Etage, Fenster auch nur zum Lichtschacht. Wir hatten zwar für zwei Nächte gebucht, sind dann aber nach einer Nacht in ein anderes Hotel umgezogen. Das ganze Hotel braucht eine Grundrenovierung.

Une excellente adresse en cœur de ville.
L’hôtel Santa Maria est d’abord très bien placé, en plein cœur du Plateau, le quartier le plus vivant de Praia. Ensuite, l’accueil est remarquable, le personnel, souvent francophone toujours anglophone, est aux petits soins; la moindre demande est satisfaite rapidement (selon les critères cap-verdiens). La chambre, comme l’ensemble de l’établissement, est d’une propreté impeccable. La literie est très confortable. Le copieux petit-déjeuner, servi à l’intérieur ou en terrasse sur la rue est un excellent moment. C’est franchement une très bonne adresse (précision : je n’ai aucune participation dans l’affaire…)

Statt des gebuchten Zimmers wurde uns ein Zimmer in einem anderen Haus zugewiesen. Ein Föhn war nicht vorhanden, auch kein Leihföhn. Die Klimaanlage funktionierte nicht und Mückenschutz vor den Fenstern gab es nicht. Dusche und Bett waren okay. Als wir plötzlich das Licht anmachten entdeckten wir im Flur Kakerlaken. Auf unsere freundlichen Hinweise zu den Mängeln wurde freundlich geantwortet - aber nichts verändert.
