Most amenities listed were not available. Our stay was in their shoulder season, this should have been stated clearly. Our area of the resort was close to vacant, yet we were given the worse possible unit. Power lines running through the parking and yard area. A nesting platform for geese right above our unit. We heard them very early, and loudly, in the morning. Also, if you have a full sized, extended cab pick up, the parking spots may not accommodate your vehicle.
No signage as one arrives indicating where check in is located.
When we finally located the “market” where we were to check in, it was closed. This was foreshadowing of our entire experience. I could see people in there, yet none would come to the locked door. I called the general Dover Bay phone number to let them know we would like to check in. A woman arrived within minutes, so that was good.
I was not asked for any form of ID when checking in.
This resort is very large and we were given no resort map or list of activities and amenities to enjoy during our stay. To reach our cabin, we were told to find the tennis courts and follow that road to our unit. If I had known in advance where the courts were, that would have been helpful. We found the unit and it was small, yet adequate. The tv is mounted so far above the fireplace, it gives you neck pain.
Our family has traveled extensively and stayed in a variety of accommodations. Dover Bay looked so amazing, but did not live up to expectations at all.
