Love this property! It's quirky and charming with an old fashioned feel...even has a real key for the door instead of a key card. One thing, though, make sure to let them know if you have issues with stairs, because I was on the third floor and had a heck of a time lugging my suitcase up the steep, narrow steps! No elevator. But, they serve several different types of pies (fruit, pecan) and ice cream every day at 7pm! Nice touch. And the breakfast that's included is served on the beautiful sun deck...on the 4th floor, which has a fabulous view of the ocean. The staff is very accommodating because my room didn't have an outlet near a table I used for my laptop, so I asked if they had an extension cord, and they did! Even brought it to my room and plugged it in for me. One slight negative is that there was a gas fireplace in my room that kicked out heat from the pilot light, making my room stifling hot since I couldn't leave the windows open at night and there's no air conditioner. I will stay there again though!

Wonderful location. Only one issue: it would’ve been nice if the hotel had forewarned us that when you are on the 3rd floor, the sun deck cafe begins preparing for service at 7 am which translates to lots of noise at that time.

This property is a bit quirky in its layout and room decor, but we enjoyed it very much. The location is great and the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast on the roof patio was wonderful. Highly recommended.

This property has a fantastic location but the hotel is meh. The first time I stayed the room was a bit updated and the second time it was pretty bad. I enjoyed the location and the staff are always kind and welcoming.

This hotel is really unique! I loved staying here for many reasons. First, it’s quiet, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. I had a wood canopy bed that was really cool and comfy; the floors are real hardwood and Mexican tile; the jacuzzi tub and fireplace were amazing. Every entry door to all rooms are thick, wood authentic front doors that could be on any house. They serve fresh baked pies and ice cream every night, and their breakfasts are pretty good, especially on their ocean view deck. You’re steps from the beach where dogs are allowed before 10 am, and after 5 pm. The staff are very nice and welcoming. I really enjoyed my stay here.

The Inn is wonderful. We stayed in a king themed spa suite which was lovely. The view from the roof was incredible. They even had free pie and a lovely breakfast. I had a big mug of hot chocolate, ham and cheese croissant and a veggie quiche. Be careful if you book through Expedia. I needed to change my check in date by 24 hours and lended up having to pay for both days. Get the insurance.

What a charming and interesting place. The room is like a Spanish villa with lots of wood. And it’s huge. With a bar and huge tub. The 4th floor deck overlooks the beach and is also huge. Can’t wait for coffee up on the deck and breakfast !

Fantastic value for the price
The Inn at Avila was a fantastic value for the price. Sure, the building is a little old, but you can't beat the location across the street from one of California's most picturesque beaches. The hotel includes parking and complementary bikes, which you can enjoy at nearby trails.

The beds were terrible! And the lights outside illuminated our room all night. It was impossible to sleep. The location is great but we will never stay here again.

The decoration is beautiful. So original, California chic. Well chosen material: wood/stone/tiles; new with the feeling of antique. Clean. Nice artwork, sculptures, mural decor make you feel more like in a home not in an hotel. Of course we were on the front street suite with porch/wiew on the ocean, sunset etc. You can walk to the restaurants, shops etc.. Bonus desert with pies/ice cream from 7-8 PM . Staff super nice and helpful. Wéll be back
