The house boasts artwork from renowned Guatemalan artists. The decor combines both modern and traditional rustic objects and furniture. Spacious rooms and living rooms with soaring wooden ceilings and flooring add contemporary charm to the lake house. European wood-color paneling for the windows add warmth and a cozy feel to this naturally bright house. Relax in any of the two outdoor decks, perfect areas for barbecues and resting. At night, unwind in front of the two-handcrafted steel chimneys making you feel right at home; one in the living room area and the other in the master suite. You will be in awe of the panoramic views of Lake Atitlán from both above, while admiring from the house and below, while relaxing on the deck and boat dock. Beautiful landscaped grounds to enjoy walking, seasonal tropical fruit picking, adventuring out and playing sports on the vast soccer field. Private landscaped lake access by stairway with deck and boat dock looking out to a quiet and serene bay. Enjoy resting on the deck at the edge of the water which has a bar, lounge chairs and jacuzzi. An easy 5 min walk down. The house can be enjoyed by both small and larger groups. We want to let you know we are doing our part to help our Vrbo guests stay safe by taking necessary sanitary measures and we are continuously disinfecting frequently touched surfaces. There are three-four staff members: an on-site caretaker, gardener, kitchen helper and additional maid for larger groups. They are very helpful and friendly and have experience tending to foreigners, especially volunteer groups from the U.S. They take special care in making our guests’ stay more pleasant with the cooking, cleaning and tending to and cater to every need. Equipped with everything you need for a relaxing, stress-free vacation. Offers a swimming pool, jacuzzi, fully-equipped kitchen, two indoor chimenys, two large porch areas for barbecues and resting; upper-level porch with barbecue griddle, dinning tables and gas fire pit and porch seating; lower-deck porch with swimming pool and poolside loungers, ping pong table, table with chairs and pool table in game room. Spacious living rooms and 5 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. The house is family friendly with many activities for small and older children like swimming pool, ping pong table, pool table, slide, swing set, trampoline, jacuzzi, soccer goals, badmington, croquet, board games, and outdoor wood fire pit for roasting marshmallows and weiners. The house features four TV's with cable: one in the master suite, one in the two-bedroom suite, one in the living room, and one in the swimming pool area. Complete access to all parts of the home and grounds. The staff has separate living quarters so as to give privacy to the home during the night. There is nighttime security for your safety. Items available upon request: high chair, cots and crib. Breakfast and other meals available upon request for an additional fee. The architectural splendor and the views of the lake are absolutely breathtaking and set the backdrop for an incredible experience whether you choose to stay at the house or explore the lake and its surrounding towns. The house staff is welcoming and accommodating and Lisa is a consummate and attentive host. We missed the welcoming house rules packet when we arrived and were bummed to have done so as it is filled with useful information and activities. Make sure to look for it and read through it upon arrival as it gives you a full scope of all there is to do around Lake Atitlan, including phone numbers for boat transportation. If coming from the city, be sure to purchase what you want to have prepared by the two, sweet, in house chefs before leaving the city as there are no major markets in the area. The house, the ladies, and gentlemen who work there were so worth it. I was not able to enjoy the lake as I much as I wanted because I became sick along with my aunt. The essence of the house is the people who care for this beautiful home. I can not express my graditude to Isaac, Lesly, and the other lady whose name escapes my head. I Loved how knowledgeable, friendly and I warm these beautiful people were to me and my family. They made me feel at home. This house will help you relax and enjoy quality time with family/friends in a beautiful environment. The house itself is stunning. It provides a unique 2-level floorplan with plenty of rooms and living space to accommodate a large family. It also has great interior design to make you feel like you're living in part of the Guatemalan rainforest. The exterior decks provide spectacular views of Lake Atitlan and the surrounding landscape. The house has extremely well groomed exterior areas, including a playground area for kids to enjoy. We spent a lot of time outdoors. One of the best parts of this house is the accompanying lake dock. It's a short walk from the house with easy access and privacy. We spent time swimming in the lake, kayaking, and enjoying the lake views from the jacuzzi. The only precaution to consider with this house is actually getting there. This was our first time to Guatemala and we quickly realized why hiring a private driver makes more sense than renting a car. The roads are not well developed around the house or in the general areas around Lake Atitlan. So it is definitely wise to hire transportation and use boat taxis when getting around the lake. All in all, we couldn't recommend this house more. It was the perfect place for our family vacation which will be something we cherish and remember for years to come. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots of space to spread out but also get together for family meals. The panoramic views from the kitchen dining living room are gorgeous. It is also nice to get the morning sun due to position of the house on the lake. It is very private though there are neighbors not too far, however, we never saw them. Wired internet would be a huge plus but my cellphone data got a decent connection most of the time. Jacuzzis were a great asset. Our group spent 3 nights at Casa del Lago and had an absolutely spectacular time. The property itself is exceedingly comfortable, spacious, well-appointed, and otherwise run like a first-rate hotel. The house was spotless when we arrived, and the home's staff took the best care of us during our weekend. Lisa had arranged for us to have most of our meals prepared for us, which turned out to be a great way for us to get the most out of our days, eat delicious meals, and also enjoy the company of the staff. The house has everything a group could possible want or need to be entertained: endless games, ping-pong, hot tubs, kayaks, pool, nooks to read, and very comfortable rooms, beds, and bathrooms. Last but not least, Lisa is a wonderful host who was very responsive on email and made sure everything was well-coordinated before and during our stay.
