Great room

Posted 10-Sep-2017
The staff was great, really helpful. The problem I had was that it had a bad odor in the room. It smelled like they sprayed for bugs. It caused me and my family to have sore throats. I love the room, nice and roomy.

Nice place, except for loss of power

Posted 9-Sep-2017
Pros: Great location in old San Juan. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was nice.
Cons: If power outages are common, a backup generator would be helpful.
Location: Walk in nearly any direction and there are things to see.
The staff was very nice, 5TH floor room was fine (no view, but that is OK). Our problem was when the power went out we had to climb stairs. The stairs were very hard for 1 of our group who was struggling after knee replacement surgery. Loss of power also meant loss of the A/C, which made the room uncomfortable. I don't know if this was a rare event, or a common event? When the power did get restored, the elevator still failed to work due to some problem related to the power outage. The hotel did get it fixed shortly thereafter, but the inconvenience was significant. Otherwise, the hotel was nice and in a great location.

Old San Juan

Posted 22-Aug-2017
Pros: So close to the Cruise port (one block away) and in the heart of the action in Old San Juan.
Beautiful Old San Juan was a joy to explore- we spent the day before our cruise set sail exploring Old San Juan - full of charm & history!

Perfect location in Old San Juan

Posted 4-Jul-2017
Pros: Location, staff, parking.
Cons: Better sleeper sofas, Wi-Fi throughout the entire Hotel.
Location: Plenty of attractions and restaurants within walking distance and all the street food you can eat.
Perfect location in Old San Juan, within a two- minute walk from Paseo de la Princesa. The Staff is awesome and will go out of its way to assist. There is a 24-hour parking garage directly across the street and the Hotel validates for a reduced rate. We never had to move the car as there is a free trolley (until 5:00 PM) and you can practically walk everywhere anyway. Wi-Fi works well only in the Lobby and the sleeper sofa was a bit uncomfortable for the kids but, overall, this is a great place to stay for a couple of days. I would definitely stay here again!

Customer service at its finest.

My wife and I stayed at cervantes on the last night of our honeymoon. I paid for a junior suite and let the staff know of the special occasion. Upon our arrival, they upgraded us to the presidential suite and placed rose peddles and Hershey kisses on the bed! Way above and beyond. Thanks Cervantes!

Beware of the carpet

Posted 17-Jun-2017 on Hotels
The room seemed nice and the view when you opened the doors to the balcony was unique to the narrow streets of Old San Juan. Breakfast was good but was not exactly "complimentary." When we arrived we were told there was additional fees because it was considered a "bed and breakfast." HOWEVER, we noticed a strange smell in the halls and in our room that was likely due to the carpeting in our room. We later noticed that our feet or socks turned black from walking on the carpet! Yuck!!! My final complaint was that we could not open the curtains on the doors to the outside leaving our room without any natural sunlight unless we opened the doors letting all the hot air in.

Excellent location, great staff!

Posted 12-Jun-2017 on Hotels
Chateau Cervantes is located within walking distance of several bars/restaurants/shops/parks and the water. The staff greeted me with a map, and made suggestions for points of interests. The desk staff also doubled as Concierges, and always with a smile on their faces. The noise level in the streets did not bother me at all, it was somewhat like trash pickup day at home. Hot water was also not an issue. I ate a delicious cream soup at the on site restaurant. I really have no complaints about Cervantes at all, everything was up to par. Many thanks to all at Chateau Cervantes! NOTE FOR HOTELS.COM - my name is Lucy, not luzy.

Great location, too noisy.

Posted 4-Jun-2017 on Orbitz
Pros: The price and location are right for being in Old San Juan
Cons: Noise level - which I understand can't be changed, but would have looked elsewhere and paid more for after hours quietness.
Location: Excellently located to discover Old San Juan, the shoppes, the forts, and the culture.
Great location if you want to be close to Old San Juan, but the noise levels at night were ridiculous. Trash trucks, glass being dumped in an empty dumpster, yelling, motorcycles, and traffic. Even though the hotel backs up to an alleyway, it is a very popular alleyway after 1:30 am. Aside from the noise, the room amenities were decent and the bed comfortable. Don't pay extra to have breakfast included with your stay-as we weren't the only people there who were disappointed in the two slices of toast (or store bought danish) and coffee/juice included on the breakfast menu. Staff is very cordial and helpful with suggestions on what to do or where to eat.

Hotel in a good location

Posted 24-May-2017
This Hotel is located in a good location for exploring Old San Juan. Free Tram and Bus Stop mere steps from front door. Rooms are clean and comfortable although street noise is a bit annoying. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Air Conditioning in our room would freeze you out and the only adjustment was to turn it off and back on when it began to warm up again. Restaurants within short walking distance, with several to choose from.
