The location in San Jose can't be better for travellers. The area is safe and convenient to stores and restaurants. The staff is very helpful

Local Charm in a transitional neighborhood
The neighborhood is "in transition" which means there are a few people sleeping in doorways and a few people at night who appear drunk or drugged. Enough that you'll want to take a taxi or Uber after dark. The hotel has large rooms. The beds were a little firm for me, but not so firm I couldn't sleep. The bathroom was large, however the towels were a bit small and always felt a bit damp. The a/c was good and the room also had a ceiling fan. It can be it a bit noisy as you can hear people in the hallway. The breakfast was nice and served by the pool. The grounds are very attractive. If you get a good rate, like a hotel with local charm (rather than a large, international chain) and don't object to taxi/Uber in the evening, this might be a good choice for you.

Room was nice and inner courtyard of hotel nice in an old fashioned sort of way. Staff friendly and helpful. Reception area needs smartening up. Outside of hotel not much to look at and area unremarkable but a short walk to centre of city, restaurants, etc.

Good value, great location.
Is a beautifully restored old mansion on 7th Ave. It truly is a hidden oasis in the middle of San José hustle & bustle. The main upside of this property is location, breakfast & parking included (is a gated garage, super safe, so we just left the car there and walked around the area both days we were there). Just a few minutes from Avenida Central, Plaza de la Cultura and all major attractions, it makes for a great base to explore San José’s old town. Breakfast is decent, basic but good, with made-to-order eggs omelettes and fresh juices. The kids loved the pool; It has a tiled Jacuzzi (REALLY hot water) which felt great for my wife and I’s sore legs after a whole day of exploring the country’s capital. The towels were medium sized and rooms have no shampoo or equivalent. No big deal for us but come prepared and bring your own. There are nicer places nearby but you pay for it. Overall I give this place 90% for its great location and friendly staff.
