There are some nice amenities at the property like the pool and gym. Breakfast was quite average. They had quite a bit of construction happening in the lobby area so there was some noise and fumes from that. The hotel is nice however the surrounding area of town didn’t feel safe.

They are doing renovations in the 3 story lobby which is quite nice. The hotel rooms are in need of a little update but my room was not bad. I did not experience any mildew smell and overall it was a little better then I expected. The location is very good. The room and bathroom are both spacious. The bed was a bit too hard for my liking. AC worked well. There is a free breakfast with coffee, juices and several hot items. One big negative for me is that there is no mini bar in the hotel room so I had to get a bucket of ice 1-2 times a day.

Internet was down when we got there. Had to wait a long time for our room , which when assigned ,was already occupied so they then had to give us another. Our room had a broken iron and cold water for shower. Ordered room service ,where it took over an hour to reach someone and then one of the dishes was not good at all. Sent email to complian to manager as he couldn't be reached at checkout. Still waiting 3 days for reply. Reception staff were good and morning breakfast was ok.

Property is in a safe area and walking distance to shopping malls. Not a party or clubbing person so I did not witness anything negative and was back in my room by 6:30pm latest. Friendly staff mostly Spanish speaking but willing to help if you call them. I rate overall 3 stars cause I had issues with TV volume the first two days and I did not have a refrigerator to keep things fresh in my room. I got excluded from free breakfast by EXPEDIA which I thought was part of the package in the first place. I had to forgo breakfast at the hotel and ate only when I stepped out. First time using Expedia, so painful, but valuable lessons learned. I will not book car rentals with EXPEDIA as there are lots of extra and higher charges when you get to the rental car. It's best to book directly with well known and reputable rental companies on arrival. EXPEDIA hooked me up to an unknown NU rental and I ended up not having a car to drive due to the high local third party insurance and deposits they were asked ng upfront. Hence, I could not tour this beautiful city as I had planned to and was limited to downtown activities. The money paid to EXPEDIA, I also found out is non refundable. I was practically holed up in my room most of Saturday, all of Sunday and Tuesday🙄🙄🙄😔😔😔🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️paid for transportation to and from the airport and in Monday to tour the beach and marina area. At the moment I am not pleased with EXPEDIA and think it's a rip off!!

Liked location. Near downtown and shopping. Many parks and scenic spots nearby. Best part was a sports bar about a block away called Chubbs. Good drinks and food and good waitresses. Casino is attached with a bar. Did not like currently doing construction on first floor. Room a/c would not cool below 24C. Don’t give you face cloths only hand and bath towels and no extra. Second night we got face towels, no hand towels and no rug.

Room was not very clean! Dusty and carpet full of crumbs/not vacuumed. Was told it would be taking care of the same day and it didn’t . 2nd day, besides that the beds were made, nothing else was done, still dusty and carpet still not vacuumed! Disappointing

Did not like when I asked to bring a local friend to my room to give a gift. This was right before time I was to check out. Nothing improper on my part. Staff was otherwise very good, food not do much. Will look for other options next trip. This was my 7th trip to Costa Rica and first stay st the Aurola Holiday Inn.

Good for downtown SJ with parking & Friendly staff
The reception was very friendly and welcoming as well as the cleaning lady on the 12th floor.💗 well located for discovering downtown San Jose, they had a parking lot which was very convenient, and Jim and several restaurants. I felt safe and comfortable.

It is a very clean property, great staff and good place to stay. It’s near to the central market, National museum and theater. They only have to improve the breakfast menu and facilities to be the best place to stay

1. The staff was very courteous. 2. The facilities were great except the pool was a little cold. 3. Breakfast was tasty 4. Hotel Area: I want to start off by saying that I don't want to denigrate homeless people. However, I feel that it's important for other people who are considering staying at this hotel to be aware of the area outside the hotel at night. As a single woman, I felt unsafe walking alone at night due to the presence of homeless people who were looking for money. Even the hotel staff advised me not to walk alone at night immediately outside the hotel. During my stay, I had a frightening experience when I was approached by a homeless man for money when returning from a restaurant in the area out front of the hotel. I just wanted to share this information so that other travelers can take appropriate precautions and stay safe."
