"Nice hotel in the middle of everything! "
This was one of the nicest hotel I've been to. The lady at the front desk, Betsy Moreno, was really nice and very helpful. We got an upgrade to a room in a higher floor. It had an amazing view!! Loved it.

"The pictures are deceiving"
The location is good, and they have free bikes but with a curfew. The bikes had to be returned before dark...weird...and each bike was a $250 deposit!! That is crazy. The hotel smelled really really bad, and had huge disgusting stains on all the carpets in any common areas including the hallways. I was super concerned just walking to the room. Now the room itself did not smell, nor did it have stains!! This is a shocker considering the rest of the hotel. The hotel really looked like a hostel because of its disgusting state. But again...the room was clean and did not smell so that is the most important thing! We were upgraded to a double bed suite...which we thought was a double score, but it was not. Yeah we got bigger beds, but the room was divided really weird so there was no common area to chill. Oh swell. Even with the gross common area, I would come back. The price for the stay was cheap, and the room was nice and that is all that mattered.

"No internet"
Despite stating free internet - free internet was only in the lobby. Hardly conducive to business. Room internet was $24 as I recall. The hotel was OK and clean but older and in need of a makeover.

Sir Francis Drake, a Kimpton Hotel

450 Powell Street, San Francisco - Map
"Very nice hotel, loud from street noises"
This is a lovely hotel with recent renovations which still capture the time in which it was built. There is no way to block all the street noise - our room was on Powell St, where the cable cars run, so throughout the day you'd hear the dinging of the cars. Also, we had rowdy neighbors who came back to their rooms at around 2 on Saturday morning, yelling and having a good time. They seemed to stay in the hall for about 15 minutes, but at least one of their own shushed them at some point. The wine hour is a nice touch, option of red or white, and they have a snack as well. If you are a Kimpton rewards member (free), you'll get a $10 credit for use in the bar or mini-bar. Check out the Starlight Room - great views of the city!

"Great hotel, but a big noisy"
There was some construction going on during the night right outside, but the sound was muffled so it was not too bad. Overall, a great place to stay. Staff was super and very friendly!
