So what a difference 2 weeks makes ... I'm only marking down because the elevator was out of order for the full time of our second stay. That said staff did reallocate room to lower floor and also helped carry bags to room. On checking out we left our bags to pick up before heading to the airport and on return to pick them up we asked to use the shared restroom on the 2nd floor - and were very bluntly advised that access to it was closed off at 5pm!!!

A great hotel in San Francisco
Chic, lovely, well-priced hotel in a great location. Extremely easy to get anywhere in the city. I found the room very comfortable and had no problems getting a good night's sleep. Staff were all very nice and helpful. Also the lobby smells really good! I would definitely stay here again.

Above our expectations for this stay! We had Lovely assist us with our check in and out and she was beyond helpful! Also easy to store bags before and after check out. Highly recommend staying especially if you want a easy and safe place to stay not far from the trains!

Cute but disappointing
The hotel is charming and the bed was very comfortable, however the “king suite” looked nothing like what’s advertised. Broken beside lamp, broken TV, and the complimentary coffee, tea & pastries that had been promised never appeared.

Service was exceptional. Was check-in and out by Rachel who was enthusiastic and warm. In-fact, everybody I interacted with at the property was excellent. Bed was comfortable. Not many channels on the TV, but that's not a big deal to me.

Cute and quiet but my bed sank low on one side, the sink is designed to hit your head on the shelf just to wash your face, the staff barely says hello, the lobby scent machine is on way too high I couldn’t breath in there, and the free pastries need a simple fix of a cover see we can eat our food without flies everywhere. But I guess it’s a decent price regardless.

First of all, the staff were fantastic; Rachel in particular was brilliant - she was great to chat to, she had great recommendations, and really made us feel welcome. The room was exactly what we were looking for as a base in San Francisco, with lots of restaurants nearby and easy access to all of the tourist spots we wanted to visit. While we were unaware that the restaurant had closed a while before, the breakfast was really convenient and helped us to wake up every morning. Getting the bar and restaurant reopened would be very useful though as there were times that we wished we could head back to the bar after a long day.

Lovely stay
Everything was great. The morning coffee and pastries were excellent, great room. I was on the odd room number side of the building and those rooms are a bit darker. My only reason for not giving it fives across the board was the very strong pumped scent in the lobby was overpowering. I had a histamine reaction to it. Less of that would be much better.

Pros: convenient location, friendly staff, decent stab at turning an old building into something kind of boutiquey. Cons: noisey, no bar, no restaurant, no laundry. Ok hotel but not as nice as other Palis. A bit of a flop house vibe, despite the hipster refit. Dark, dingy and a lot of street noise- both traffic and street people/smack heads.

The hotel is really old fashioned. Old fashioned in a way they should have replaced the carpets 10 years ago. There was a moldy smell at 3rd floor that got intense when I got into the room. It was hard to breathe and I had to keep the AC on. However, staff was incredibly nice and it’s about $100 cheaper than other places around.

Chic...and cheap for San Francisco
A great value hotel with a great design. My room was compact, but cute. It was fine for one person, but book a larger size if you are not a solo traveler. Very clean and comfortable. The bar/restaurant staff were particularly friendly and helpful, Unfortunately the wifi was hit and miss at times. I would definitely stay here again.

I've stayed at this property a handful of times in different types of rooms from the basic to the suites. This time was room 302 and it just felt off when I entered but was too tired to get a different room (I checked in at 11pm). I think I got upgraded from the basic Queen room because there was a loveseat in there but this room seemed to be missing the Nespresso machine, there was only one robe, the soap in the dish wasn't unwrapped but you can tell it got wet but not replaced, the mini-bar looked like it wasn't straightened and in the refrigerator it looked like there were already items that were already missing. Now that I look back on it, I'm pretty sure the bed was not actually stripped and the bedding wasn't replaced because it had a scent like a body lotion or hair product AND in the morning I saw dried blood drops on the sheet and pillow. My partner thought it may have been from his ear but it wasn't. Also, the robe in the bathroom was frayed. I hope this isn't an indication of this property going downhill because the Palihotel SF is my go to for a last minute hotel in SF since I'm familiar with it and know where to park.
