"Great location to Union Square"
I would definitely stay at this hotel again. I went with two of my girlfriends who we hadn't all been together for a couple years. The staff was great. The bellboy was excellent; happy, friendly, and eager to tell us about what the hotel had to offer. (He was also adorable) There are two bars, one downstairs and one on the 21st floor (the top floor). The bartender was great downstairs, and made a great chocolate martini. We didn't go in to the top bar because it was a $10 cover, and didn't tell us until we got to the front. Not sure if you don't pay a cover if you are staying there, and didn't ask. The bouncer was very pleasant, and also attractive. A $10 cover isn't much, we just didn't go because we wanted to talk and it was more of a night on the town vibe so we headed back downstairs. The drinks at the bar and the food at the restaurant were decently priced for the city so that was nice. All in all, great. But no refrigerator if that's an issue to anyone.

"Special Anniversary!"
We spent 5 days in San Francisco and really enjoyed our stay at the Joie de Vivre. Our room was nice and cheerful. The location worked for us because we are very active and able to walk the distances to Union Square, Crissy Field, Ghirardelli Square, etc. One of the best parts of our stay was the staff! We interacted with several individuals and they were all very helpful and fun! Oscar, in particular, helped us several times which we really appreciated.

"Nice Hotel- wrong time of year!"
Unfortunately for my husband and I the bay area was getting hit with multiple storms so our ocean view wasn't much. We were provided with wood for our fire making the evenings cozy and warm. The hotel is next to a few good restaurants as well. My biggest complaints would be having a room who's toilet made sounds (a leak?) waking you up if you're not a sound sleeper. The continental breakfast is just that. Could be more substantial and the coffee stronger :) but that's my preference. Other than that the staff is very nice and accommodating. I would suggest a less rainy time of year .

"Nice Hotel, but bad room service"
Nice Hotel, however worst room service I have ever experienced - not one order was correct & one was so late we couldn't eat because we had to leave on a tour bus. Sneaky that they add the tip of 15% to the bill, then have a separate section for a tip, so as Aussies we didn't realise & ended up over-tipping for constant wrong orders. People were nice however.

There are so many things to do in San Francisco, it’s difficult to know where to start.

So why not begin with a place where you can do a lot of things at once? We’re talking about Fisherman’s Wharf. Located on the upper east side of the city, Fisherman’s Wharf hosts a number of attractions, including shopping, dining, restaurants, a carousel, and the Aquarium of the Bay. Where else can your kids learn about the local sea life and enjoy some clam chowder in a sourdough bowl? You can stick with the animal theme and head 10 km across town to the San Francisco Zoo. Polar bears, lemurs, and wolverines, oh my! Your little ones will love the critters, and you’ll love the zoo’s beautiful layout.

Want more family fun in San Francisco? The San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, located on the northern end of the city, is full of antique sailing ships and exhibits to explore. Learn how to set square-rigged sails on the Balclutha, or go for a jaunt around the bay on the schooner Alma. After a long day of exploration and excitement in San Francisco, a family hotel is the perfect place to retreat for some R&R. If you’re visiting in the winter, we recommend booking a hotel near Union Square, so you can bring the kids to see the ever-changing Winter Walk.

A family vacation is meant to be cherished and enjoyed. Get your trip off on the right foot and book with Expedia.ca; you’ll get our Best Price Guarantee on our selection of San Francisco hotels. That means more money in your wallet instead of spent on accommodation. Isn’t that worth another trip to Pier 39?
