Sea Holly Cottage has been recently renovated to an exceptional standard with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The cottage combines a mid-century look with contemporary style and comfort. The newly landscaped paved garden is the perfect sun trap to sit and relax. 5 minute walk from the beach, close to the gorgeous village pub that serves great food. The cottage is also served by two local shops as well as two family run cafes. The location was brilliant — peaceful, scenic, and convenient — and the cottage itself was well set up, with a neat and pleasant outdoor seating area. Despite our group size, the space didn’t feel cramped at all, which made for a comfortable stay.That said, the cleanliness on arrival was disappointing. The cottage hadn’t been properly cleaned, which was particularly frustrating with small children in tow. In hindsight, I wish I’d contacted the owners straight away to request a re-clean. Additionally, the highchair provided was unusable due to how dirty it was.One thing that would have been helpful ahead of time was more information about the bedroom layouts. One of the children’s rooms was located on the ground floor, right by the front door — not ideal for younger kids and something we would’ve liked to plan for in advance.Overall, the stay had a lot of positives, but a few key details let it down. ##### Lee W. Also the pub almost opposite the cottage was a good watering hole and the food was good.The location was ideal for exploring the Norfolk Broads and we clocked up many miles (both on land and on the rivers) and visited plenty of places. The beaches were magnificent and towns like Norwich with its Cathedral, Cromer, Great Yarmouth and Caister-on-sea did not fail. National Trust places we visited were quite magnificent and a trip to Sandringham is a must.For 8 days we packed in many trips and the cottage always provided a haven for tired travellers. The house is gorgeous, communication from Owen was great from the start when we had a question about bed set up. Location is perfect, walk to the beach and the cafe there for breakfast. And cross the road to the pub for dinner and a drink in the sun! House itself is so comfortable, plenty of lovely comfie chairs inside and out- the small garden was a sun trap, wish we had a bbq with us that would have been perfect! Kitchen was very well equipped, only thing no pods for coffee machine and dishwasher which would have been super helpful - but that’s definitely nitpicking. The beds were comfie, and the downstairs room was perfect for my disabled mum as it was right by the toilet/shower and meant she didn’t have to climb stairs. It was a small room but perfect for what we needed. Really loved the property, will definitely stay again when we visit the area next! ##### Laura B. With special touches that obviously mean a lot to the owners, which made it all the more special as you felt like you were being trusted to care . I especially enjoyed the art work that was displayed in every room, my favourite being a little oil painting in the dinning room. All the bedrooms were comfortable and spacious , and the kitchen was well stocked. The cottage is situated just a few minutes walk away from the dunes and the beautiful sweeping beach. We drove about 5 minutes away to Horsley Gap to see the seals, fantastic sight, so many of them. We were there for a long weekend to celebrate our daughter’s 40th so didn’t do a great deal, but it was such a relaxing time. We ate at the Fisherman’s Return which was opposite the cottage, for our Sunday lunch, unfortunately it was a bit disappointing but it didn’t ruin the weekend. Poppy tea room though more than made up for it, as we had a really tasty,hearty breakfast there on the Monday, departure day. Really recommend the full English breakfast. The staff were very friendly and the cafe was dog friendly too, there was even dog treats on the menu ! Séjour de 4 nuits en octobre 2024 ### 8/10 – Bien #### Jennifer K. 6 oct. 2024 Points forts : Propreté #### A fantastic stay overall! We had a brilliant time staying in Owen’s house for a few nights. The house is very easy to find and the check in process was very easy with the use of a lockbox. The house is very nicely decorated throughout and the living room was very cosy and well equipped for our group of four adults. The location is great with a shop up the road, a lovely cafe/tea rooms and a pub literally outside the door! The beach is truly a 5 minute walk away with the dogs absolutely loved and the hose outside made clean ups after the beach super easy. There were some small touches in the house too which were very thoughtful such as the nightlights on the landing - making going to the loo in the night that bit safer - and the selection of board games. The few things I have to note that were slightly disappointing is that the kettle was full of limescale, which is alway something I check coming from a hard water area myself. There was also a coffee machine but no pods provided and nowhere locally to get them from. And the last small thing is that the windows didn’t open in the bedrooms. The house is clearly very well insulated so it got very very warm in the night despite our trip being at the end of September when the weather wasn’t overly warm. We were five adults and our dog and there was ample space for us all. The cottage was very well equipped and the location was perfect. A lovely pub just opposite, fish and chip shop round the corner, a well stocked shop and the beach barely minutes away. We will definitely return. ##### Jacqui R. Our family of five had an absolutely wonderful stay at this charming cottage by the beach! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the picturesque setting — a beautiful thatched roof cottage that looks straight out of a storybook. The cottage was spacious, cozy, and exceptionally well-maintained, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The interiors were thoughtfully decorated, combining classic styles with modern amenities, making it feel like a true home away from home. The location couldn't have been better. Just a short walk from the beach, pub, shop, and fish and chip shop. Our little boy had a fantastic time, and loved the local park which was only a short walk away. We highly recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a relaxing beachside getaway. It's perfect for families, and we can't wait to come back for another stay! Thank you! Excellent location for beach walks, very well equipped cottage and dog friendly. Only one small downside - the lounge seating; great presentation but furniture lacks comfort and not an area all 6/7 guest can all relax in together. Everything high quality, especially the mattresses and bedding. Kitchen fantastically equipped with everything you could possibly need. One tiny, tiny gripe and it’s a matter of personal taste. We would have preferred another comfy sofa as we found the chairs very uncomfortable (we are ladies of a “certain age”!).
