Restoration of an old hotel. Quick walk to Ralphs supermarket, and a little further to convention center. Good public trans depending on where you are going. The cafe was shuttered and there are a lot of street folk in the area. there is a starbucks on the corner of the building for coffee in the am and a bakery kitty corner in the other direction. i don't think there is currently enough business to support local restaurants and shops at this time so a little spare, still recovering from Covid. Quiet property, clean, good selection of channels on TV. gave us free water bottles and refill stations which was very nice.

there were a few issues, three was an empty wine bottle on a counter, the light bulb over the sink was burnt out, the water pressure was very low, the TV remote did not work with the TV. All these issues were brought up with reception but nothing was done. The cleaning staff do not greet guests and just look away. We only stayed one night but for $350 a night we expected a lot more. The front desk staff at checkout did not seem moved by any of this.

The location and the conference was the only reason this was so expensive. But the staff acted like (besides a few) like they were doing you a favor of being there. There was barely any amenities. The cleaning staff were super nice and very sweet, i cant say much for the front desk. Overall you couldnt pay me to stay here again and ive slept in dirt holes and tents, id rather sleep outside than pay to stay there again. Im glad my job paid for this, because if this was my own money I wouldve been way more angry.

Staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. My room was comfortable, but a bit dark. The hotel could do with a few more lights. Whilst the wifi was fine in the lobby and the lower floors, it was very unstable on the upper floors. I would stay here again though.

The Sofia was a great place for my boyfriend and I for a short weekend trip. I was actually by myself for the first night and it was nice to have parking on site (he’s usually the driver and downtown areas aren’t my favorite). The rooms aren’t the largest, but they were clean and had a microwave AND a fridge! The free coffee in the morning was also great. It’s also a short walk to gaslamp, which was where we wanted to go. Would definitely stay again :)

The hotel offers clean accommodations and commendable room service. However, I experienced some challenges during my stay, including noise disturbances at night due to thin walls, which may affect light sleepers. The staff’sresponsiveness and proactivity did not consistently meet my expectations, especially when assistance was required.

I’m hoping it’s just paper thin walls in a historic hotel and unfortunate timing to explain multiple nights with incredibly noisy neighbors in the very early hours. Front desk staff were unresponsive and unsmiling until I was checking out.

Fairly poor facilities, and terrible water pressure. Couldn’t even get a shower or fill the toilet cistern at the same time. Also hidden charges payable at the hotel that weren’t advertised at the time of booking making it seem much cheaper than it actually was
