I never leave reviews but felt it was important to leave one here. The TV was not working when I got there. The staff came and entered my room when I was not there to install a new tv the next day. Upon returning to my room, my daughter’s prescription meds were missing and never found. In addition, when I first got to the room there were no sheets for the pull out couch and the comforter in the closet had stains all over it. There is no front desk and everything is done through a chat agent (likely AI chat). I stayed at Kasa Gaslamp Quarter for two days and honestly, it was one of the best lodging experiences I’ve had in San Diego. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Gaslamp, walkable to restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and the downtown waterfront. I really felt like I was living in the city instead of just visiting. The unit itself was clean, modern, and comfortable. Loved having the full kitchen and cozy layout, it made settling in so easy. Check-in was smooth, communication was clear, and everything felt very secure. If you want the independence of an apartment with the convenience of being steps from all the action, Kasa is the move. This would have been fine for a vacation where I didn’t have to sleep and be functional but for anything else it was miserable. I didn’t realize at booking that there is a shared wall with a really fun bar/restaurant I frequent. The windows are old you could hear people talking outside. They provided earplugs but that wasn’t helpful when you could feel the bass that rattled the room. I asked to switch rooms or hotels and they offered another location wanting me to pay triple. It wasn’t as clean or aesthetically pleasing, but at least I got better sleep at motel 6 in Little Italy. The elevator going up to room smelled awful and was very nauseating like raw sewage each and everytime we used it. The room was cozy, but super tight fit. You are in the Gaslamp district where the nightlife is thriving, so they provide a sound machine and ear plugs to help drown out the sounds. The mini fridge leaked and reported it and was told someone would come to check on that, no one did. And then we had a little problem at the start of our stay being threatened to cancel it due to noise disturbance/complaints, even though 1\. We were out of the room when these complaints were made 2\. We are literally surrounded by bars which are notoriously loud. Turns out there is a noise detector in the rooms (read your fine print) and what it was picking up on was there was a fire alarm that went off in one of the bars. The customer service on that was very nonchalant and basic about it and for them a simple apology was suffice even though they threatened to cancel our stay and fine me per contract. I was super pissed and irritated by the whole experience that had me stressed out for the remainder of my stay. I was speaking as low as I could because of not wanting to set off the alarm. Just a terrible experience altogether.
