Modern Urban Retreat, Perfect Central Location Freshly renovated pool 2023 (Even better than before!). This home is perfect for visitors of San Diego who want to stay very close to all of the city’s major attractions (San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park with museums and theaters, Sea World, downtown Gaslamp district, beaches) and be within walking distance to numerous restaurants and bars, while still having the option to chill by a large pool and fire pit in a canyon setting. Also just 14 mins to the airport or beach! Description: The Space The property offers a mix of traditional and modern architecture, with contemporary amenities and a zen front garden with water fountain that is frequently visited by hummingbirds and dragonflies. San Diego’s famously perfect weather all year-round lends itself well to outdoor living every month of the year. The pool patio with deck above a canyon features a large swimming pool, a fire pit with comfortable seating area, landscaping, and a dining table and grill for barbecuing on those many warm Southern California evenings. A truly magical location to enjoy sunset. This home is a rare find in the densely populated urban center of San Diego, where large canyon-side pools are very hard to find. The house itself sleeps 6 adults in maximum comfort (extra children can also be accommodated with air beds). It offers one master bedroom with King-sized ultra-plush bed and en-suite bathroom (with two person shower) upstairs and two bedrooms (one with medium-firm Queen-sized bed and one with two TwinXL memory-foam beds that can be converted into one true king bed) downstairs. There is a modern bathroom with large jetted tub/shower combination and luxurious European hardware conveniently located between the two downstairs bedrooms. All bedrooms are appointed with high-thread-count sheets, high-end mattresses, and luxurious towels. The gourmet contemporary kitchen features a 6-burner Dacor dual-fuel range, top-of-the-line Bosch dishwasher, microwave/convection oven, large 42" French-door refrigerator and is stocked with plates, glasses, silverware, pots & pans, and anything else that you might need for a meal cooked and enjoyed at home. The dining room table comfortably seats 8 people. We hope that you will enjoy the living room with its modern furniture, a 52” TV & surround sound audio with Cable access, and lovely view of the beautiful pool area (pool can be heated at additional cost). The long driveway along the side of the house can easily accommodate three cars. Additionally there is a washer/dryer hidden in the kitchen. WiFi access throughout the property facilitates 50Mbps internet access. The Neighborhood The home is located on a small street in San Diego’s Hillcrest/Mission Hills residential neighborhood. Hillcrest’s lively, diverse, and eclectic center with countless restaurants and bars is about a 10-minute walk away. We are located 1.3 miles from beautiful Balboa Park with close to 20 museums, gardens, and theaters, 2 miles from the San Diego Zoo, 3.8 miles from San Diego’s famous downtown Gaslamp district with bars, restaurants and shops, 5.8 miles from Sea World, 3.6 miles from the airport, and 6 – 8 miles from some of the city’s most beautiful beaches. Thoughtfully decorated and an excellent location for getting downtown or onto the I-5 highway. The kitchen was fully equipped for cooking, a plentiful larder and clean bathroom plus pool/beach towels. Short walk to local Ralph's grocery store and take-out/restaurants. Parking for 2 cars and Host Jesse was friendly when reached out to and quickly resolved an issue with the wifi modem. Very comfortable for a family of four, but could easily accommodate six people. Layout of the house was open and inviting. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook a few meals. Keurig had plenty of pods for all of us,Front of the house had a bird fountain that did, in fact, attract a hummingbird among other birds. I don’t do yoga, but imagine the area by the fountain would be a perfectly tranquil place to do so.Weather was overcast much of our stay, so we didn’t use the back area as much as we would have liked, but it’s very spacious and comfortable.Beds were all comfortable, too. The lone TV in the living room was connected to a fantastic sound system, better than the one in our home.What else? Location of the house is also great. Walking distance, if so inclined, to two supermarkets, a CVS and plenty of restaurants. Balboa Park is maybe a 15-minute drive. The house was a real gem. There was plenty of parking for 3 cars which was a huge plus and the house and kitchen were amazing. I will agree that this rental was one of the best stocked rentals I have ever stayed at which was a huge plus. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and the location is very close to a grocery store and lots of restaurants. My only regret is that I didn’t realize how cool it is in San Diego even in the summer and I didn’t opt to heat the pool so my kids thought it was too cold to swim. ##### Chevy W. We loved the pool / outdoor area. We paid to heat the pool but worth it in November. Bedrooms were comfortable and kitchen was well equipped. Great neighborhood with many restaurants/coffee/grocery stores within 15 minutes walking distance. Check-in time is later than most, but we were driving in from Anaheim so not an issue for us. The property is clean and comfortable with well equipped kitchen and bedrooms - definitely much more than your average vacation rental. We spent almost all of our time in the pool or on the deck overlooking the canyon. It was incredibly relaxing and brilliantly located for everything San Diego has to offer like the Zoo, Old Town, and Gas Lamp District. We would certainly stay there again. ##### David C.
