This hotel was recommended to me by two of my relatives. Based on their descriptions and online reviews I had much higher expectations. On the positive side the room was recently remodeled and looked nice. The location was convenient to anywhere we wanted to go - San Diego gaslamp district, little Italy, Midway museum, Ocean Beach, Kearny Mesa’s Convoy. The hotel is across the street from the park which overlooks Sea World, so we saw fireworks over the bay from that park three nights in the row. Parking right outside the bungalow is convenient.
I’ve encountered a few issues during my stay, and the time it took the hotel to resolve them was longer than expected. I communicated them to the hotel staff, so it should not come as a surprise to anyone.
Room was not ready at the check in time. Hotel offered comp. Calls to front desk from the room went unanswered, not even an answerer. Hotel staff was slow to respond to requests: I asked to clean bathroom fan grille, it took 2 conversations and 24 hrs. Hotel left a baby crib we didn’t ask for by our door, I asked 4 times to remove it, and 24 hrs later it was still there, I ended up asking the maintenance lady who was passing by and she removed it immediately. Room had weird smell, wife thinks it was from the closet. Room lock was hard to turn. AC is noisy and louvres are not adjustable and it blows straight at the bed. Beach has moss growing at the water line so can’t go for a swim. I’m not sure we’ll come back.
