The kids loved that there was sand right out the back door and enjoyed the beach toys. The ocean is a short walk and the beach chairs made our stay perfect! It was just what we needed for our 3 nights. Neighbors are quiet and we felt safe. There is a walk up Mexican food bar about 1/2 a mile from the house, really yummy tacos. You can walk on the sand from the patio, but you can't see the ocean from the patio. You can see a public parking lot for beach goers from the patio, not a big deal as it is obscured behind some bushes. You have to walk to the beach to see the ocean which was okay for us, but if you really want to see and hear the ocean from your VRBO didn't stay here. There were rat droppings in one of the bedrooms underneath and on the bed and the utility closet was full of it. The unit had a slight musty smell which can be common among beach properties but the hallway actually had a rodent smell. The location would have been great otherwise. I contacted the property managers who said they could send cleaners and pest control, however neither showed up during our 4 day stay. ##### Benjamin B. SurfStyle was very responsive when advised of the dirty floors and sent someone to clean them the next day. Even once the floors were clean, however, the musty smell remained. While cleanliness was lacking, the large patio and beach just beyond it were the highlights of our stay. It was a perfect set-up to allow adults to relax on the patio, while the kids played in the sand. ##### Lisa G. But the description is not very accurate. First, there is no dishwasher in the small kitchen. Although it is close to the beach, there is no view of the water. There was no information about local recommendations, or information on operating the two-remote TV. We had a lot of maintenance problems, and the kitchen appliances (including refrigerator) were not working when we arrived; we had to wait until the next morning to get them fixed. We have not been reimbursed for our spoiled food. The small bathroom had neither window nor working fan, and it took ten days for the fan to be replaced. Other maintenance issues were never fixed during our two-month stay. There were no cleaning supplies, just dish/laundry detergent. The front bedroom has no closet or anywhere to put your suitcase or hang clothes. If you have a larger vehicle, you will have trouble fitting into the parking space. There are two steps (no banister) up to the bathroom and two bedrooms, which might be a problem for some. It’s a short walk to the water, but otherwise, the proximity of attractions is exaggerated. Of concern is that there is no way to lock the property, while you’re sleeping, for example, even though the entry code was shared with handymen, cleaners and the plumber. It is the beach, so there is noise—mostly from the many and constant volleyball players who sometimes blast their music. We wanted a quieter area, central to various districts, and oceanfront. This property was perfect for our needs! It was spacious, clean, and easily accessible by Uber/Lyft. It was easy to communicate with the rental agency and it was nice to have the option of grocery delivery. We rented bikes to ride up and down Mission Beach and kept them in the locked garage. The A/C worked properly and the rooms were comfortable. Much more space than a hotel and you get more for your money. Highly recommended! ##### Kate W. Safe for kiddos, huge protected sandy area for them to play without having to worry about them running into the ocean and drowning. Clean, modern, A/C in each room. The KEY offerings were great and we took advantage of some of its amenities. Talk about a smooth operation. The hosts were extremely responsive and their welcome book had a lot of great tips for our stay. I would love to stay here again and would advise anyone that is interested to do the same, as the house, location and hosts were outstanding. We absolutely enjoyed everything and Mission Beach is spectacular place to hang your hat. ##### Kevin C.
