Step into a thoughtfully renovated 1920s bungalow where timeless charm meets modern design. This North Park retreat has been carefully curated for comfort, style, and ease — perfect for couples, friends, or small families looking to explore San Diego from a central, walkable location. SD TOT 638534  
  
Inside, you’ll find an inviting living space with custom built-ins, a dedicated work area, and a big blue sofa perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. The dining nook features custom seating and a striking Sputnik chandelier, while the all-new kitchen is fully equipped and designed to impress. French doors open to your private backyard oasis — complete with a spacious deck, serene fountain, al fresco dining, and a charming swing.  
  
Both bedrooms are equally comfortable, featuring blackout shades, ceiling fans, mini-split heat and AC, and designer furnishings. Guests frequently praise the home’s cleanliness, cozy atmosphere, and thoughtful extras that make them feel right at home.  
  
Located in a quiet, safe neighborhood, the bungalow is within walking distance of some of North Park and South Park’s best restaurants, coffee shops, and markets. Downtown, Balboa Park, and San Diego’s most popular attractions are just a short drive or rideshare away.  
  
Please take a moment to review the House Rules before booking.  
If you will need bedding for the sofa, please let us know in advance so we can prepare it for you.  
  
Families: While Purple Panache is glad to host families, please note the space was not designed with children in mind and has no specific child-safety equipment. The children who have stayed most successfully have been infants under constant supervision or mature tweens and teens past the “stick a fork into a socket” stage.  
  
Pets: We do not charge a pet fee — but pets must be disclosed when booking. Undisclosed pets will incur a $100 fee. To keep our pet-friendly policy free for all guests, we ask that you:  
  
Clean up after your pet inside and outside.  
Use provided blankets on furniture if pets are allowed up.  
Contact us for instructions if an accident occurs on carpets or upholstery.  
  
If our cleaners must address these issues for you, the following fees apply:  
Dog waste or messes: $50  
Excessive pet hair: $50  
  
Security: For your safety, there are four exterior cameras mounted on the roof to monitor property access: two at the front (entry, driveway, sidewalk), one on the south side yard (facing the gate), and one on the north side yard (non-accessible space). There are no interior cameras and none facing the backyard. The home is equipped with a Yale Smart Lock.  
Please do not tamper with the cameras or modem.  
  
Check-out is 11:00 AM. Message or text when you depart so we can begin prep for next guests.  
To help keep cleaning fees reasonable:  
Leave property as you found it.  
Place dirty dishes in dishwasher and start if needed (detergent under sink).  
Begin a load of laundry with kitchen/bath towels and clothes used.  
We will strip beds — do not wash house linens.  
Before you go:  
Double-check drawers and behind doors for personal items.  
Close all curtains/shades, lock windows.  
Turn off air conditioning units.  
Lock rear door.  
Lock front door by closing fully and pressing Yale key on keypad.  
Message or text Matt (520-661-4004) when you depart.  
Food note: Dispose of opened perishables. Leave unopened/non-perishables (coffee, oil, spices, bottled water, etc.) if you wish — we’ll determine if they can be used for future guests.

Our group of four had a wonderful time in this beautiful house with all the amenities. A quiet and peaceful place in a charming neighborhood close to everything. And communication with the owner is very easy, helpful and pleasant. We will definitely be back!

This is an exceptional property - it is as beautiful as it looks in the photos. The house was clean and very comfortable. Lots of nice extra touches and quality linens and towels. The host’s attention to detail was much appreciated and differentiates this property from the others we’ve seen.

Everything you need there. Clear instructions from arrival to departure. Location was perfect for us, 10 minutes to the zoo, 10-15 minutes to mission Beach, and 10-15 minutes to Coronado Island. Overall would highly recommend and will likely return for another stay!

Great property. This property is located in North Park and is not very far from a major interstate, however, the neighborhood is very peaceful and quiet. Plenty of room. Appreciated all the hangers in the closet and comfortable beds. The living room and both bedrooms have air conditioning and the house has ceiling fans and as a result, the house stays plenty cool. Favorite part of the rental is the back yard. Lovely patio and water feature and flowers. It's so peaceful and spent most mornings outside enjoying our coffee. Loved watching the hummingbirds. This property is not far from the waterfront, Petco park, Old Town San Diego & the zoo. Plenty of restaurants in the area. If this is your first time to San Diego, I would recommend driving over to Coronado and having a drink at the hotel and also enjoy a dinner. San Diego waterfront is awesome and we toured the Maritime museum and also took a harbor cruise. Loved Old Town San Diego, so many wonderful shops and the zoo is the best zoo I have ever been too. Loved Mission Beach. Dean, the owner, was so wonderful to deal with and would answer promptly if we had a question. Would stay at this property again.

We had stayed at one of Dean’s former properties, so we went in with confidence that the Purple Panache would be great. It did not disappoint! The attention to detail in every inch of design is a delight. Generous living area, roomy kitchen and comfortable beds all provide a great place to relax at the end of the day.As we were visiting family, we did not make use of the patio area, but it is lovely and serene. A great location for our needs and close to Balboa Park. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Stayed for 6 nights with a good friend. We were both very happy with the comfortable beds, good water pressure and very effective A/C. We liked being able to walk to town for some great meals and groceries. We also trekked to Balboa Park to visit the museums, which is a good 45 minutes, with hills, but very enjoyable. That said, the place could use a little TLC. It is an older home so you have to expect the doors to stick and the floors to creak. But it is in need of a deep cleaning and replacing a few of the blinds. We both also would have preferred that the older used condiments were disposed of instead of left in the fridge and kitchen cabinets. We wouldn't risk using an open bottle of ketchup or A1 sauce, especially left in the cabinet. But there may be people who like that so I would not downgrade based on that.

Me and my partner lived staying here. It was a comfy place with a very nice and private back yard area. The location is great for walking to grab a bite, catching a ride to one of the many nearby attractions, or just staying in and ordering some good food!I would definitely stay again!

The bungalow is retro chic and comfy with interesting art and thoughtful touches that make you feel completely at home. Dean was a great host who made everything in the area easy to find and navigate. The home in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to nearby shops and restaurants, as well as the highway and nearby sites like Balboa Park. We loved staying there and would return again. The property is as good as the pictures show and other reviews indicate.

We loved our stay in this retro decorated home! The kitchen was well stocked so we could make brunch and sit around at the dining table! We also loved the beds firmness and layout of the home. Dean was super communicative and helpful as well. Would highly recommend this space for groups of 4!

#### Great location, beautiful yard and comfy home

Dean's home was clean, in good working condition and full of charm. The home was the perfect size for an extended stay for mostly myself and at times, one other person. Despite being on a busier street, no overnight noise. I enjoyed the walkability for groceries, coffee, restaurants and the proximity to the freeways for broader San Diego. Dean was super responsive to questions and one tiny issue and I'd love to stay here again. Thanks for a great visit!
