First of all they’re falsely advertising as a hotel when in fact it’s a motel, big difference. Then after canceling my room due to that fact, they tried to say someone was smoking in my room in order to keep my deposit, which is crazy due to the fact that I had 2 senior family members staying in that specific room. I checked out at 6am to attend an event on the Marine Corps base and I’m quite sure that due to the conditions of the room when it was checked in to, sticky floors, previous renters clothes behind furniture, the housekeeper didn’t come until the afternoon hours. Yet they “called “ the office to say that they felt the room had been smoked in. So not only are they advertising a hotel falsely, when you change your mind about the stay they’ll find a way to steal your money. Some were rude and some were very nice. They didn’t allow me to check-in early and my room looked clean, but when the moment that I pulled my chair out, there was a pair of boxer briefs on it. The receptionist was nice enough to upgrade my room. However, the noises were so loud at night and a random stranger knocked on my door at 10pm in the middle of the night with his back turned against the door. He was just quietly staying there for a few minutes and I called the reception desk to check it out. I couldn’t sleep the rest of the night and I was horrified due to being a solo traveler. I attempted to check out the very next morning and got refunded for the other 2 nights that I am not staying. I was provided with a receipt and the receptionist told me to check with Expedia because sometimes the refund would not reflect since I booked it on here. We walked around the area at Night and never felt threatened. I used to live in Downtown Vancouver, so the lower income residents that were on the streets here were friendly in comparison. Fairly quiet, right off the highway so easy to drive everywhere. Go to kind coffee down the street. Amazing coffee, wonderful service. While the location is central to downtown SD, that was really the only upside of the stay. The room, on face value, looks okay. However, the AC did nothing to keep the room cool. It was difficult to sleep due to the temp in the room. Moreover, there were several cockroaches in the room #405\. The shower is missing a door so all the water just spills out onto the floor. Our first night staying at this hotel, there was a homeless person that screamed for 1.5 hours straight from the hours of 1 am-2:30 am in the hotel parking lot near the elevator. We were unable to connect with anyone at the front desk to report the problem and the next morning were told by staff that no one had complained and also that there is no staff between 2 am-6 am. There was also another homeless person that was walking around the hotel attempting to open guest bedroom doors throughout our stay. The shower drain in our room was clogged so we would have to turn off the shower in between washing and rinsing. Our tv was old and every time it was turned on, the volume would be on the highest setting regardless of what it was left on when previously using the tv. This was particularly a problem, because we could hear other rooms with the same issue and would be woken up at various time throughout the night from the sound of loud television sets in other rooms. Rooms are not cleaned daily and you need to specifically request that service at the front desk each day. Staff, for the most part, were friendly. The whole ambiance of the hotel reminded me more of a hostel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would suggest staying in another part of the city at a different establishment due to safety concerns. ##### Katie Séjour de 4 nuits en février 2026
