The Space: Enter this newly built home and marvel at the charming local décor and beautiful spacious rooms after strolling back from the Riverwalk. Relax on the back terrace and fenced-in lawn, talk about the fun plans you have for your San Antonio stay over breakfast at the dining table. Our location is only 1.1 miles (25 min. walk) to the Riverwalk and minutes to the Alamodome and Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center. The Pearl, The Quarry, The San Antonio Zoo, The Witte Museum, The Children's Museum, The McNay Art Museum are also very close by with a quick and inexpensive Uber/Lyft ride. Many houses are undergoing renovation while others are patiently waiting their turn. This community is a melting pot of diversity with all walks of life living in the area. We are a residential neighborhood tucked in a very urban and up-and-coming part of the city. HISTORY Dignowity Hill was San Antonio’s first upper-class residential suburb and is named after its first settler, Dr. Anthony Michael Dignowity, a physician and Czech immigrant. During the latter part of the nineteenth century, Dignowity Hill, as it became known, was home to prominent San Antonio merchants and business owners who constructed large estates. In the 1920’s the neighborhood consisted primarily of small Folk Victorian style houses and Craftsman Bungalows. Today, the neighborhood is a local historic district bounded by Sherman Street on the north, Commerce Street and Paso Hondo on the south, Palmetto Street on the east, and Cherry Street on the west, and is attracting millions of dollars’ worth of investment and a host of families and individuals that are delighted to call it home! LOCAL FOOD FAVORITES You must try the Burnt End Melt ($8) at Dignowity Meats on E. Houston Street, 1 minute walk from the house. This Dignowity Meats favorite is one of the primary reasons why patrons tend to snake around the outside ordering window during lunch service. “It probably sells at least five times better than any other sandwich on the menu,” owner Andrew Samia said of the sandwich. “We can run out of certain menu items and customers will understand, but that isn’t one of them.” Hours: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (lunch), 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. (dinner) Mondays through Fridays. 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays, closed Sundays. Another big recommendation is the Cherrity Bar, where you can not only enjoy a delicious meal (we recommend the asain noodle bowls!) part of the proceeds go to a charity of your chosing. They are open Tuesday-Friday from 11am to 10PM, on Friday they close at 12am, and Saturday they are open from 3pm to 12am. Grab a yummy brunch at La Coronela Mexican Restaurant serves delicious Mexican food, open from 6am-3pm all days of the week except for Sunday when they open at 7:30am. The fantastic "Panchos and Gringos" deli is on corner of N. Pine & Nolan Streets, and open from 7am-3pm serving deli food, breakfast & brunch. Getting Around: The house is situated in a very quiet downtown street, but a short walk away from busses, scooters and bike rentals. The house is a 25 minute walk, or a 5-minute uber/lyft ride from the convention center, the beautiful Pearl district and downtown San Antonio. For quality groceries, Central Market is a short Uber ride away. Other Things to Note: Please take note of our strict cancellation policy, we will not consider any requests for refunds outside of the policy advertised. During these COVID-19 times we recommend buying travel insurance or book a hotel or another property with more cancellation flexibility. ★ EXTERIOR SECURITY CAMERA ★ This home is equipped with a doorbell camera, driveway camera, backyard camera and a camera on the side of the home that begin to record and monitor when motion is detected. There are no cameras or devices that record or monitor the interior of the home. Interaction with Guests: We also own and operate an antique business in Floresville TX and therefore, will not be able to greet you in person when you arrive or leave but we hope our personal touches placed throughout the home will help you get to know us. A few days before your arrival, we will send you the code to the door. Be sure to check out the binder in the kitchen filled with local recommendations and tips. The property and home is very nice, well kept, and the communication with the owners is great. Upon arrival the house was exactly as described and shown. The community the house sits in did have us second guessing our choice but we never felt unsafe with the updated security system and you can see a lot of people are rebuilding/upgrading their homes in the area. The barking dogs and nearby train did make sleeping difficult at times. The house is in excellent condition and all appliances are new. Our kids loved the peanuts room! The closets are huge but if renting remember to bring hangers. Overall great location for touring San Antonio and easy access to all roads. ##### Michael M. House was beautiful and provided all the amenities necessary. We were all very impressed with how decorative the house was and how much time and effort was put into the property. Very comfortable! Located within a 5 minute drive to the downtown areas we wanted to visit (The Alamo, River Walk, etc.) and a quick walk to a few places to eat/drink. We had a great trip to San Antonio for a family wedding. The house was very, very clean and beautifully decorated, had everything we needed including an ironing board and washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchen, etc. It was close to everywhere we needed to go and we would highly recommend the Black Lab Brewery about a block away for food, drinks and even a Nintendo for the teen that was traveling with us! The hosts were extremely communicative, gave clear instructions for check-in and check-out, and answered the phone immediately when we had a quick question. We would definitely stay here again. We really enjoyed this property. It was a great place to relax between family events and enjoy a little downtime and close to everywhere we needed to go. We purposely returned because we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything that is needed to enjoy the house is available. The hosts are ready to assist as needed. New Home! This was a fantastic property for a downtown location. It was superbly located to access the Riverwalk, Convention Center, AT&T Center and more. We loved all the local eateries within walking distance. We tried all the recommended places from the owners which were delicious! The layout of the house is great; open floor plan, large living and kitchen area and the primary bedroom is in the back of the house for more privacy. Proximity to downtown , Pearl District and the Riverwalk was fantastic. We had some difficulties unlocking upon arrival, but the owner and manager called back immediately to help us gain access. Our group's annual trip to the SA Riverwalk to carol on the riverboats was never easier! This home had enough space for all of us to spread out, play games, dine in, & sleep well! We enjoyed the San Antonio-themed decor with a touch of Christmas. Spacious kitchen/dining areas, room to be cozy but not crowded in the living room. The property is centrally located, a mile from River Walk, 20 minutes AF Base. Very clean with two spaces for off street parking. Owner does a great job at maintaining the house and it’s supplies. Extra TP, Paper Towels, trash bags, cleaning supplies, Kurig and 12 cup coffee maker. We had all kitchen supplies to prepare Thanksgiving Meal. Good Wi-Fi and Smart TV with guest Netflix. It is close to downtown, and the house is very well designed. Everything about the stay was as we had hoped. I will stay there every time I am in San Antonio. The house was clean and very accommodating. Everything we could have needed was in the home; all the toiletries, extra toiletries, plenty of towels and rags, laundry detergent to take home clean clothes, and wash the towels we used, dish detergent to wash and put away all the dishes we used. We truly could have came on vacation with clothes, deodorant and toothbrushes and been perfectly fine. We met the hostess while we were there and she was very sweet and friendly and made us feel so welcome. I loved that the house was so close to everything and we could get anywhere within minutes. It was clean and spacious and the host was super helpful and kind. The only downside was the neighborhood looked a little rough but we had absolutely no issues and felt very safe with the security system.
