Holiday inn Salzburg is just off city centre on a quiet stretch of road but not badly located as you can walk to most places or get the bus. There are local convenience shops & restaurants so overall the location is ok. I requested a high floor when booked and was acknowledged by the hotel but did not get one. Instead got 1st floor which not only had a communal terrace/balcony but the view was terrible. The terrace could do with some cleaning & maintenance. Outside the rooms is a large open corridor which echos but also the hotel has placed communal tables & chairs which attracts guest to sit outside the room & were noisy. The doors slam which is annoying as well, in general the hotel is noisy. The rooms are clean & comfortable enough but they do not get serviced unless requested, this wasn't clear, by the time we realised it was too late. The air conditioning did not work or the bathroom extractor fan. The main redemption is the buffet breakfast which is excellent since ours was included in our booking. Lots of choice & everything you need to fill you up for the start of the day. The staff are very good also, very polite & helpful. One evening we ordered a Nockerl dessert from the restaurant, was quoted 20 minutes wait but took over an hour. Was completely overcooked, sunken & tasteless so this was really disappointing but the waiter knew & removed this from our bill. I would actually stay here again if i could ensure a decent room as the value was good.

Hotel is average on rooms. Good for 1-2 nights. Breakfast is good but dinners are limited to cheap pizza if you eat at hotel. Restaurants available 0.2–0.4 miles from hotel. Staff is excellent.

Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent choice for breakfast - hot & cold. Room slightly worn looking but good shower. Only negative was smell of cooking in the room (via aircon) and in the hallway outside the room.

We were stranded, they had a room. It was clean warm and the staff was extremely helpful. They made sure we had a taxi to get to the bus very early in the morning. It was expensive but rooms were at a premium.

The hotel lies a little bit on the outskirts of central Salzburg, so you're not in the picture postcard pretty part of it but central Salzburg is easily walkable from there (15 mins). It likewise is not too far from the train station (maybe 10-15 minutes). I still got a nice view of one of the mountains in Salzburg. The staff are lovely and friendly. The rooms are very nice and breakfast was excellent.

Overbooked hotel
We got to the hotel to check in only to find out was sold out. They eventually put us in another hotel where I now have to pay to park and pay for breakfast. Both were free at the hotel I initially booked.

there was not alot of food places around hotel to access - had to walk 15 mins to get to area for food. Food was limited at hotel. Bed was comfy, lots of space inside, safe was handy to store passports etc., but AC was not working and it faced the sun directly- so it was a sauna- muggy and hot- hard to sleep- had to call front staff to help- they found the AC unit was not working- so they gave us a fan which helped to give a breeze to cool us off-but felt like hot outdoor camping. Closed the blinds during the day to try to help in the reduction of heat- did a little. if it wasn't for that part the stay would have been better.

Terrible, should not be a Holiday inn
The shower head did not work so water got all over the floor. Had a wet floor all night. The telephone did not work at all because it had no labels on it. Calling zero did nothing. Other problems just like this. I don't know how they can even call themselves a holiday inn.

Beautiful in Salzburg
Very good hotel. Everything was excellent. The only thing I would have liked is a mini fridge and microwave. I imagine this is not standard in Austria from the places we have been, but they had robes and slippers

The room was clean and very spacious. The staff were friendly, helpful, and fluent in English. Breakfast is amazing but not worth 19 euros. There were a few English channels on the TV. I was really impressed with the amenities (Dove body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, and body lotion). The gym was well-equipped and always available. The only con was that our room key stopped working halfway and that the shower drain was clogged and was not fixed even though we asked twice.

Not too friendly receptionists.
Our stay is ok. The receptionists are not too friendly at all. When we came in the first day, they were so unfriendly. In short, i think theyre very rude. we asked for 2nd key but they said they dont have enough key and they can only give us 1. Fine. How about saying it in a very nice way than being sarcastic. The only nice person there is Christian, the bar person. Thats it.

We had a little bad experience. The rooms were not well lit. Hot water kettle was dirty from inside and they refused to clean it or change it. We had to go down ourselves to change it or to get hot water. Shortage of staff. Did not have a very pleasant experience.

Hotel is a 12 minute walk from the centre of town. There are supermarkets and a few places to eat within a 5 minute walk, but nothing much at the hotel, except for breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. Common areas are clean and fresh looking. Rooms are comfortable with most amenities including a bath / shower and some have a balcony which is nice to sit out on in the evening. However the decor is a bit dated and the dark brown furniture looks worn. Bed divan was stained and dirty so needs replacing, did not look at the mattress. Bedding was clean and fresh. TV remote did not work but we did not chase on this as most TV was German language. No instructions on the safe. Helpful to have a carpark on site as we drove from Munich and also drove to the sights outside Salzburg

The front desk was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were a bit outdated and in the bathroom was some mound. Unfortunately, the windows wouldn’t open completely, because there was a bar in front of it (could be for security reasons though).

The hotel was very nice. The room was clean, air conditioning was fantastic and the bed was comfortable. We had breakfast one morning but it was very expensive in comparison to other hotels we have stayed in. Being charged for underground parking seemed unfair as there was only 10 free spaces outside the hotel and other guests had not parked responsibly. The hotel was in a great location for exploring Salzburg.

So-so accomodations for luxury price
Most the staff was exceptional, but for the price we were a bit disappointed with our tiny room with no view in such a uninviting neighborhood.

Decent location, but wouldn’t stay again.
While the hotel staff was friendly and the lobby is nice, the rest of the hotel is in need of an update and a deep cleaning, to include replacing heavily worn furniture and changing carpet flooring to some other type of flooring. We had a corner room facing the mountain, which offers a decent view until the sun was facing the side of the building where the room did not have automatic shades. The curtains should be replaced with blackout curtains to help keep the heat from the sun out. The air conditioner barely cooled the room at all and ended up leaking water heavily down the wall and onto the thermostat, which could have been a major hazard. Overall, given the repair of the room and uncomfortable heat due to the AC issues, the cost for the room was way out of a reasonable range for the quality.
