LOGIS HOTEL LE RABELAIS

10/10 Excellent

"Good hotel in the middle of town but needs a few bits of maintenance (e.g. leaking shower doors) and a few more members of staff. The restaurant was good with reasonbably priced meals although the chef needs to tone down the use of olive oil on the fish dish as it was swimming in it, and also learn the difference between saignant and bien cuit as my saignant steak was almost trop cuit! The main issue was the breakfast as a party of 40 Dutch tourists decended on the restaurant before checking out at 0900. When the few other guests arrived there were no clean tables and no food left. Understandable but what was incredible was that the young wonan in charge of breakfast was on heer own and overwhelmed. To her credit, once I'd alerted the lone receptionist to this she came and pitched in, as did the guests, setting tables etc. but that was areal failur of management. Why 5* then? Because it has potential and was perfect for our overnight stay with secure parking and (eventually) a great breakfast. If i'd been there for a week I'd probably have dropped it a star or two."

"We had a wonderful time at La Brionnière. The location is beautiful, lovely countryside away from it all. The gite is very well equipped and has everything you need, it was very homely.The highlight was the amazing pool which was big, very clean with plenty of sun loungers and seating and amazing views across the rolling fields beyond. Us incl. kids (4 and 6) loved it!Chris and Julie were so lovely, they made us feel at home and never tired of chatting to our very inquisitive 6 year old ;-)Puy du Fou is only half an hour drive away, we had an amazing time there as well. The various tree top climbing activities around the area were super fun too.We were very sad to leave at the end of our two week stay - the kids are already asking when we can go back.Merci beaucoup Chris & Julie et a bientôt!"

Dinner was good (perhaps not Michelin standard) and a good selection at breakfast. Bedroom was of a good size and excellent bathroom facilities all in good condition and very clean, efficient and quiet air-conditioning if required. The windows offer pleasant views across the estate and countryside though they are very high up so small children would not be able to see out. Easy parking directly in front of the building and good access to the room. All in all can thoroughly recommend."
