This is evident by the differently spaced adze (similar to an axe) marks on the hand hewn logs which suggests people of differing stature were swinging the adze. The cabin was moved by semi to its current home over looking scenic Tete des Morts valley and beautiful Saint Donatus. A lot of creativity and hard work were put in to reconstructing this cabin and maintain the frontier feel while providing a very comfortable laid back stay. Very close in proximity to the popular Kalmes Restaurant and Gehlen House Inn and Barn Brewery. Woodenhead was a great “home away from home” for my family and I. The house was cozy, with the cabin feel, yet had a modern touch. The snowboarding was great (only 30 minutes to Dubuque and Galena). The owners were extremely nice and answered every little question I had.
