Pros and cons... Probably more cons.
On a very busy intersection in not the nicest part of town. The room was hot and the bathroom had a damp/drains smell that wasn't particularly pleasant. Breakfast was a bit sad looking too. On the plus side though, the staff were friendly and it was cheap. Local area also had some great restaurants.

The building location is a strategical one. Of course, just for this reason, can't possibly a quiet one at the same time. So many guests appreciate rooms looking onto the main square facing the monumental gate dating back to the first century A.D. Bathrooms size and air conditionig system are being improved on account of great renovation work we have been carrying out in our facility. Glad to hear you appreciated our staff attitude and professionalism. Regards.

Staff were excellent and friendly. Shower booth was my only issue, kind of small. Liked the location but surrounding area quite deserted without much amenities. Will recommend once their upgrading is completed. Smoking at the entrance not ideal.

Glad to hear you appreciated our staff attitude and professionalism . Bathroom size together with shower booth will be improved. The Hotel location is supposed to be an archaelogical one , mainly due to the Portamaggiore Monumental Gate and its intersection with the aqueduct later on part of the Aurelian Walls. This notwithstanding, just a few steps away , guests may find St. John in Lateran and the called St. Maria Maggior, two of the four major basilica. A little farther away , the Colosseum area.

The shower was very poor & the floor was always very wet after showering which made it very dangerous. Everything else was perfect we had a great holiday. Especially the bar staff as always ready to bring you BEER...... FANTASTIC....

You get what you pay for. The rooms are very tiny and cramped and there was no elevator on the side me and my 65 year old mother was staying on. I won’t be staying here again.

Room was adequate although very dated. Bathroom was not of good standard with a shower that was too small and the floor was soaked afterwards. The two lifts were not good enough for the amount of rooms available and wait times were not acceptable. A very long walk from lifts to rooms and would not be suitable for anyone with an impairment. The service from reception was good!

Tired hotel in poor area
Hotel is quite dated although undergoing renovation. We only stayed one night to get an early train and we're thankful to not return. The area of the hotel was a little rough around the edges but there is a taxi and tram stop across the road. The shower door fell off it rail and shattered whilst my wife was showering, fortunately she wasn't hurt but this is the condition of the hotel.

OMG! Stay Away!
We were a family of three but we ended up getting two twin beds in a very cramped room. The bathroom in the room had sewage gas coming out and someone, maybe a hotel employee had peed in the bidet when we arrived. Also when we checked in at 4pm the room wasn’t even cleaned yet. The roof garden restaurant was not only terrible to eat at but was also horribly over priced. I will never stay at this hotel again. Important side note, beware even though you pay everything including taxes on hotel.com SHG hotel will also make you pay the city tax when you arrive.

You can find better options.
The rooms are OK, but the bathroom sucks! It is impossible that they have a big room for this purpose but they put a small shower on it! Small shower = only a little square inside the bathroom.The only good thing about this hotel is that it is really close to Termini Station.

I've stayed here twice and both times the AC wasn't working and all they did was give us a fan. Hotel staff seemed uninterested in the fact that we. As guests, were uncomfortable. They had to be reminded about our AC.

Okay but I wouldn’t give it 3 stars
Staff was friendly and helpful, room was a good size. Bed was hard, only one pillow per person, the shower was tiny, and the towels were thinner than paper. Also, there were almost no outlets to plug in to! The ones by the bed for the lamps were built in to the wall behind the head board so they weren’t accessible. There was one in the bathroom, that their hair dryer was plugged in to. Luckily we were able to unplug it and charge our phones in there. I wouldn’t walk around that neighborhood too much at night. But the distance from everything isn’t too bad, if you don’t mind walking. About a 15 minute walk to Termini. But you can get a public transport ticket for €1.50 and it’s good for 100 minutes for any transport-train, bus, etc. Overall the stay was alright, and a decent price, just little things that would have made it better.

The hotel is good. Service and breakfast is all right. Just rooms and bathrooms are old need repairmennt. Bath taps are pain, does not work properly. Location is all right, close to the centre but looks poor.

Good location however one staff member in particular was quite rude. The AC was broken which caused the room to overheat. The shower was old which meant that it either released warm or cold water nothing in between.

Right on the outskirts of Rome central. Easy to get in and out. Offered a HUGE continental breakfast. Helpful in getting us a shuttle to airport.

Pratical and no frills.
The hotel is in a great location and the rooms were really clean. However this is a new frills location. Don’t expect luxury. The beds and pillows are comfortable. However don’t get the breakfast. It is awful. My sister and I ended Up doing the breakfast but it is awful. You are better off going somewhere else. Regret doing the breakfast for the whole week we were there. However their restaurant has amazing pizza (vegetable pie is so good) and the people who work there are so friendly.

Lovely hotel, very clean, we especially enjoyed having drinks in the rooftop garden area and the staff there were great. We would have liked a bit more choice for food in the breakfast buffet, but for the price, this is good value. Overall we had a great stay!

You get what you pay for
What can I say? You get what you pay for right? For the price the hotel is what it is. When I entered the room the size was definitely small. The amount of dust in the room was staggering. Not sure if it’s from not being vacuumed or cleaned or the ventilation system needs to have the filter cleaned. The room we were in did not blow super cold. Bathroom is small and the shower is real tiny. Think shower curtain touching you while you shower. If you try to avoid the curtain you’ll hit the shower lever that comes outward and potentially burn yourself from turning the lever to hot water. Towels are super thin and feel more like a thick paper towel. Also the blanket between the sheet was awfully dirty and stained. My friends room had a large yellow stain. And the room I was in had some stains as well. Concierge is a bit of a joke as well. Free to hold your bag before check in, but when you checkout they charge 3.50€ per bag they hold for you. WiFi is terribly slow during peak hours 10pm-12 and then in the mornings. Location is convenient to the metro and bus.

The staff, managers in particular, at this hotel were very rude, incompetent and unprofessional. I arrived to this hotel exhausted after 12 hours of traveling. Check in and walk into the room assigned. It turned out to be the incorrect room with not the right beds requested. Went down to reception and requested a different room with the correct amount of beds. A second room was assigned. This room was HORRIBLE. Lamps did not work, AC did not work. The bathroom was DISGUSTING with rusted and dirty soap holders, soap scum on the shower walls. I expressed my dissatisfaction to reception staff and managers on duty. Their solution was that I had to stay in the horrible room given for the night and in the morning they would see if any other rooms became available. They did not even offer to clean the bathroom. Now to me this is not a 'solution' so I requested a refund. A refund was not given to me because according to management I simply "Did not like the rooms". I ended leaving without a refund and booked a stay at a different hotel. I urge people, please DO NOT book this hotel!!!. They took my money and ruined what could have been the perfect first day in Rome.

Liked the rooftop terrace and the staff were helpful. Disliked the hotel room as it looked nothing like the pictured on the website. Our room was behind a fire door and we quite literally had a cupboard for a bathroom.

Staff was very friendly. We had three rooms. Rooms are super small. Bathroom also small. Toilet seat was loose and rocked side to side when sitting. Restaurant on roof is very good. Food and wines are reasonably priced. Excellent service in restaurant. I will not stay at that hotel again, but I will go back to the restaurant.

Great place after a long day
The check-in was easy and the receptionist gave us a good rundown on what was available in the area. You are outside of the core where all the attractions are, but we didn't mind as it was only a 15 minute taxi ride into the main area (and the hotel will call it for you). There are amazing restaurants in the area, many are local favourites as well as a grocery store around the corner. If you don't mind being away from the hustle and bustle, I definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

Rooms extremely small even the deluxe is the same small size just with real towels and slippers. Definitely not deluxe in comparison to other properties. Smell of sewage in bathroom. Not impressed. Location to trams was great. Better hotels nearby. I would rate this property no more than a 2 star.

Used as base camp for sight seeing trip to Rome over four days. Often used restaurant for dinner at the end of a long days walking. Bed really comfortable. Shower not great but it did the job. Wasn’t too far from locations we wanted to see (20 mins to 1 hr walk at reasonable pace). Overall satisfied and Rome was great.
