I am not sure how this resort could manage to get a large amount of good reviews. The only good thing about this hotel is that it just has a good look, everything looks good at the first sight but then when you need the service, good food, value for your money, you are not going to get any of these. 50 percent of staff are unhappy, not sure why but they basically do not care, checkin was a joke, we were not even given a direction to our room, I ended up asking the guy working at the coffee shop to take us to our room. Food was terrible, 25 percent of a group of 40 people attending a wedding got sick, food quality bad, variety bad, drinks just normal. I will not recommend this to anybody, take your money and there are lots of better resorts in the area that you could get value for that at least.

This was our second time staying at this all inclusive resort. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary this time. We absolutely love everything about Paradisus La Pearla. It is amazing. I will go back again when I get the chance!

This resort was BEAUTIFUL! My husband and I booked at the adults only resort because we wanted to enjoy a relaxing, quiet and peaceful honeymoon. It did not disappoint. The resort was well maintained, the staff were super friendly and very accommodating, the food was fantastic and there was always something to do. Loads of activities to participate in throughout the day and if you rather sit by the ocean or the pool and relax, that was also an option! I’m happy to say we will definitely be coming back, I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else. Paradisus La Perla was above and beyond our expectations!!

My fiancée and I stayed at this property for 4 nights this week and we absolutely loved it! The resort is beautiful, the food is by far the best we’ve ever had at a resort, the staff are kind and helpful and there is a great vibe by the pool with the DJ. Freddy and Ulises were amazing to us and always took care of our every need! The only negative would be the piles of seaweed that they left on the sand. As a result we didn’t spend any time on the beach.

I had a disappointing experience at this resort in Mexico, especially considering its listing as a VIP Hotel with Expedia OneKey Platinum perks. Upon arrival, I was eager to enjoy the promised benefits, such as a complimentary room upgrade if available. However, when I requested this upgrade, I was informed that it would cost an additional $700 per room for a week-long stay, totaling $1400 for both rooms. After negotiating, I reluctantly paid $800 for an upgrade that should have been complimentary. Another perk advertised was a $150 credit per room for spa services. However, at checkout, I was informed that the spa only honored a $50 credit per visit, not the $150 total as stated in my booking. Despite showing evidence from my Expedia app, I was forced to pay an extra $300. Moreover, the overall quality of food was mediocre, and the drinks were subpar. Despite the resort being mostly empty, it was challenging to secure a table at the restaurants, and some establishments charged extra for certain menu items. Additionally, one restaurant required an additional payment to dine there at all. These issues significantly detracted from my stay, leaving me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied.

The beach was very dirty and nonexistent. Activities were very limited. Everything seemed to be broken as well, from the treadmills and equipment in the gym to ALL of the hot tubs on the property. It was such a disappointing stay for us!

Our stay was very pleasant, we traveled to celebrate my birthday and they made sure to make me feel welcome. Hotel sent me a small cake, fruits, and a bottle of champagne to celebrate. Samanya and Ivonne in management were outstanding and Miguel, at the restaurant Fuego have our gratitude. Beach is nice and quiet, restaurants are good, just make sure you reserve in advance.

Everyday staff was very helpful and friendly, however we, along with other guests, had an issue when they removed 1/3 of chairs & umbrellas by the pool before everyone came out in the a.m. for a private EVENING event and management would NOT talk with us. Food was not good; very salty and not kept hot when they put it in trays. Rooms were mostly nice and roomy, however, a little tired looking. Beach was not inviting. Activities were limited compared to other properties in the area (Iberostar, Barcelo). I have been to many other resorts in the area and would NOT go back to this one nor recommend it to others.

Excellent for adults only. Without the reserve you do need to get out to pool or beach early to get the sunbeds which are great. The beach had seaweed but the property worked all day to clear it. The service was fantastic the food options were good. We had a wonderful week.

The property was lovely and the staff were friendly. The biggest issue was with the food. The only restaurant that did not require a reservation was Hadar and it was a buffet that served all three meals. The food at Hadar was barely adequate at times. Occasionally we found a tasty dish there. All the other restaurants on the "Adult Only" side were lacking in flavor and variety. The best restaurant was Mole (family side). There were inconsistencies with the Melia website and the actual restaurants within the complex. When we asked about the type of food served at each restaurant we were told conflicting information. Sol (the steakhouse) was a huge disappointment. We knew we would have to pay for this restaurant, but never expected to pay $9 for a $3 bottle of water and $52 for top sirloin that was tough (cooked medium). The biggest shock was the $108 for a ribeye!!! I am gluten sensitive and the options were extremely limited and thank goodness I do not have Celiac. Because of the difficulty with reserving restaurants and the mediocre food we will not be going back to Paradisus again.

First time coming to this Paradisus La Perla Resort in Playa Del Carmen. I must say this has been by far one of the best all inclusive experiences at this luxurious resort. We booked a swim suite and it was the best decision we've ever made, as we made the best of our swim up since we arrived. Overall, great stay, great staff, great food and definitely a great atmosphere. Everything was beautiful about this resort. I would definitely be coming back here with my friends and family. Wendy- waitress from the reserve section, & La Palapa restaurant was very exceptional. She gave good recommendations drinks/food. She was the best. Oscar- waiter from reserve section & Fahrenheit Poolside restaurant was very attentive to our needs and he always made sure we had our drinks / food- was very on top of his service. He was awesome. Julie- Reserve Concierge was always attentive to our needs and ensuring we never missed any events, & helped set our dinner reservations to run smoothly. She has such a sweet personality and definitely made you feel like you were at home. She’s the sweetest, the best and will definitely request her for my next stay. Flor-house keeper was always on top of our room and always made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay welcome. She's the sweetest. Julio- waiter from Reserve beach hands down AMAZING! Never went thirsty, he made sure we were taken care of. Alfredo waiter from Reserve pool was sweet, funny and was on top of our food and drinks!

The Paradisus La Perla experience was overall an 8 out of 10. Our primary interest to stay there was due to the Jr Swim-up rooms available. The rooms were nice, but the sofas were uncomfortable to sit on. Unfortunately, we were not able to fully enjoy the swim-up room capability due to the pool water temperature being extremely cold. Had the water been heated, it would have been a game changer for sure. The hotel catered to adults, but the music played all day by the DJ made it too loud for anyone to really enjoy quiet time. Even the quiet zones were not quite due to the DJ music. Too much party outside of our room. The gym was adequate, but the equipment was outdated, and some pieces were out of service. Finally, we did not like the sales pressure by the concierge staff to attend Malia Circle promotion meetings-seemed to pushy and could have done without that type of intrusion. Other than that, we will try a different Malia Property in the future and see how it goes.

The Reserve at La Perla is definitely worth the upgrade. Before you even arrive you are in contact with a personal concierge that can make all of your restaurant reservations in advance. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, and the access to the additional restaurants and spa is an outstanding bonus. Onsite, having a personal concierge to answer all your questions and handle any inquiries you have makes the entire experience worry-free. As for the property, La Perla is stunning. The grounds are well kept, the pools are fantastic, and the atmosphere is a good mix of serene and relaxing, or upbeat and energetic, depending on where to are. The only cons (and these might not matter to some people, as they didn't matter to me), are: 1- there is no Theatre or Main-Entertainment pavilion, which is even more noticeable on rainy days, when the outdoor scheduled activities are not possible. 2 -the beach had lots of seaweed piling up and a pretty bad odour. Fortunately the lush mangrove forest that surrounds the property block all of this smell from reaching the resort. My wife and I definitely enjoyed our stay at La Perla, and she was particularly happy to see the degree to which the resort has made eco-conscious efforts in everything it does. We will come back again for sure!

This was our second time to visit Paradisus La Perla and we loved it just as much as the first time. The service and the food are the best! Some of the rooms are a little dated and need new paint and such but the beauty of the rooms and the whole resort well outweighs this. We especially wanted to mention Oscar, Nancy and Pech Pech went out of his way to get us more drinks by the pool! They really do take care of you! We didn’t upgrade to the Reserve side of the resort! You still get great service and everything you need without it but one day I would like to try it just for the separate pool area! All in all the value you get for the money is awesome!!! We love Paradisus!!!

This was a quick get away for my husband and I for Valentines Day. Upon arrival we were greeted with a nice cool cloth and a drink. We did arrive early and was able to eat breakfast and walk throughout the hotel until our room was ready. Shout out to Orlando in the buffet area he kept our drinks full and the food was good. I would have to say the property is beautiful and full of nature. I did get a massage by Barbara and she was excellent. We didn’t try all the restaurants however we did try Fuego which was just ok and service was slow. But Elvis was great he kept our drinks full too. Fahrenheit was just ok pool side and Bana we didn’t like. I will admit despite slow service everyone was working really hard. Our room was nice we enjoyed the full size tub and shower. Also shoutout to the Super Bowl crew who detailed all the food and decorations it was amazing. We also loved the Valentine picture prop. Overall our stay was pleasant, quiet, and relaxing. The people were very friendly as well. They do have a family sister property next to the adults only that you can visit as well.

Second time at La Perla, we were delighted to be back. The accommodation was wonderful and the Yoga provided by Elena was fantastic. We were happy with the entertainment by the pool and with the service provided by our Concierge Julie. What we didn't like was the waking up at 7am to get a bed by the pool, because literally everyone else was doing the same. The pool boys didn't come around to remove towels when the beds were not being used and the fact that you have to scramble like this is not worthy of a 5 star resort. It's clear that the large 'party' pool is the place to be so perhaps get a better system in place for getting a bed. The service at Fuego and Bana were very slow, there was a disconnect between the hostess and wait staff. All too often we were waiting for menus, then drinks and then actual service. It seemed to me that these restaurants were not adequately staffed and the staff had to serve too many tables. But this is still a great hotel, and these are small issues that can be easily resolve.

There was not much to do in the evenings unless you like drinking at the bar. The reserve side of the resort is wonderful but it would be nice to have more dancing options. The resort was in their winter season so they were making repairs through out the resort.

The resort was lovely but we asked for help with our bed and no one did anything for us. The mattress was finished, we just sunk into the bed like a boat. Needs updating!!!!! The food was excellent and the environment was great. The music was far too loud in the evenings. I am sure some of the children will have permanent hearing issues with the volume. The smell of mold was very strong in our room. There should be better dehumidifiers to rid the moisture in the rooms.
