"Outstanding hotel"
Hotel was beautiful, good staff, place was clean and safe. Food was excellent. Weather was great. Plenty of beach beds and lounge chairs by the pool. Plenty of top of the shelf alcohol. Definitely would go back again

"Cried when saying goodbye to staff"
Have no idea why. But for some unknown reason, leaving the staff at Viceroy felt worse than when I left my boys at college for the first time. It really is impossible to overstate how kind, compassionate and considerate the staff is at this facility. If the rooms sucked. If the food was horrible. If the beach was eroded. I would still go back to this hotel just to be taken care of by their exceptional people. Fortunately, the rooms are magnificent (we stayed in the lowest grade and it could not have been better). The food is outstanding (though honestly the price is painful). The beach is well maintained, as are the grounds throughout. Used the gym every day. As long as you are just looking for your daily cardio and a bit of free weight work its adequate. Have I mentioned the staff? A shout out to young Victor, Marcos and Mr. Pepe, and frankly I've lost some names that really deserve to be singled out for being exceptional. Man, I loved this place and would heartily recommend it to anyone who needs a bit of pampering in the most private, personalized manner possible.

"Amazing hotel for a 1/3 of the price"
Stayed here along with the Banyan Tree and Rosewood. For the price compared to the other two, Fairmont is just as good. Definitely check it out.

"Top notch! This place was perfect!"
It started with champagne the minute we walked in the door and didn't stop until we left. I really have no complaints about this hotel. The food was good, the grounds were very well kept and there was not a corner that I saw that was dirty or nasty. Our room was cleaned daily and they also provide turn-down at night. We had a swim out room which I preferred BY FAR over a little sliver of ocean view. I would recommend spending the extra for the swim out. I did not feel that the staff hung around and expected tips although we did tip the bellman, bartender and the beach servers. As all hotels like this you can't escape the sales pitch to get discounts on spa or beachfront romantic dinner by listening to a 90 min pitch to buy a timeshare. We simply declined and we were not hassled after that but then again the beachfront dinner is $400 and still $200 after the 90 min sales pitch which was not worth it to us. The adults only was great as we really wanted a peaceful vacation from the daily chaos of kids and pets, Secrets did that for us for sure! Each building has a concierge who was very helpful and knowledgeable. There is daily entertainment and activities so you can really do as little or as much as you want. Excursions are a little pricey $150 each for a tour to Tulum, snorkeling in the cave and Akumal but coordinated well and included lunch at a beach restaurant. Cab fares are high and it's about $28 one way to PDC to shop. Overall I would highly recommend!

"A Truly Elegant Resort"
In April, my husband and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at The Belmond Maroma. From the moment of our arrival, this resort anticipated and fulfilled our every need and more. From the welcoming margaritas on arrival to offering me a hair tie from a beautiful wooden box at dinner on a windy evening, the staff could not have made us feel more special. They truly made us feel that it was their pleasure to be of service to us.

"Nice hotel location. US prices."
Very nice hotel location. Beautiful room. Nice staff. Some need training on keeping the hotel premises clean, and avoid the "it is not my job" syndrome (they prefer to leave dirty things behind than collecting them). Not a fit star service. There is a dangerous reef on the right side of the beach, in shallow waters. Got hurt by sharp rocks. Staff did not mention upon arrival. Prices here are not "mexican" but at par with top hotels in America or US...strange compared to other nice hotels in Mexico. Indeed all prices are in US dollars and you are required to pay in US$ Mexico, a country with its own pesos.
