Summary: River Lodge is a newly-renovated log cabin located directly on the Shenandoah River, just minutes from the national park–the perfect location for your getaway! The highlights: \- Relax in the outdoor hot tub \- Swim, fish, or go tubing on the river–just steps from the front porch \- Stream movies or take video calls on fast WiFi \- Hang out with a glass of wine & grill on the huge deck \- Roast s’mores around the fire pit \- Drive 15 mins to Luray Cavern or into Shenandoah National Park Enjoy! The Space: Our large log cabin has all the comforts of home, nestled away in the Shenandoah mountains, just steps from the Shenandoah River. River Lodge is packed with amenities and fun for couples, families or groups of friends – and is the perfect home base for your getaway! The cabin includes: \- 1 Bedroom with Queen Bed and living room with pull out sofa \- Fully-stocked kitchen with a fridge, stove/oven and microwave \- TV with a wide collection of DVDs for everyone to enjoy \- WiFi that's more than enough to stream movies and hold video calls \- Central heat and AC to keep you comfortable, no matter the weather \- Dog friendly - bring your furry best friend! (Note: you’ll be renting the downstairs portion of the cabin that is accessed through the double doors at the top of the three steps in front of the house. The cabin is huge – and the upper portion of the cabin is not yet finished. Please do not walk up to the upper portion from the back or the front, or use the upper deck.) Outside, you’ll also find: \- A large hot tub, perfect for relaxing after a long day exploring \- Outside fire pit with seating for the whole group \- EV charging station \- Kayak and canoe (and paddles) – available on the property for you to enjoy But the best part about the cabin is its location: River Lodge is located directly on a 1,200 foot section of the Shenandoah River. When it’s warm, it’s perfect for swimming, tubing, canoeing, and kayaking. We have canoes, kayaks, and tubes for you to use too! There’s also great fishing (we’ve caught bass and channel catfish). And at night, we love dozing off listening to the sound of the river rushing by. Note: River Lodge is part of a large private retreat, with three other small cabins on the property – about 150 feet away from River Lodge. You will likely see guests at the other cabins, and they may also be enjoying the river (and kayaks/canoes/tubes) during your stay. That said, the property is very large – so you should easily be able to find a quiet spot on the river to call your own. And of course you’ll have your own personal hot tub and, fire pit. The cabin has an EV (Electronic Vehicle) charger that you may use during your stay. There is an additional charge of $15 per stay. Please let us know if you would like to add this to your stay. Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up! (By the way, the other three cabins sleep 2 people each – so if you’re looking to book a stay with a larger group, please contact us. Between River Lodge and the other two cabins, we can accommodate up to 11 people on the entire property.) Lastly, beyond the cabin itself, we love how close we are to downtown Luray and the famous Luray Caverns – both just a 10 minute drive away. Beyond the caves (which we recommend you definitely check out), the town has fantastic breweries, restaurants, and shops for you to enjoy! River views from the hot tub and hammock make it the perfect place for relaxing. I stayed two nights mid week and enjoyed juvenile bald eagles, great blue heron and wood ducks as the followed the river. There's a great fire pit area on the river also, as well as kayaks. Accommodations were comfortable and the host was responsive and helpful. I was glad I didn't meet any other vehicles on the dirt road to access the property, but the few minutes of holding my breath were well worth the gorgeous views. I especially appreciated the hard work they have done to save the trees lining the river from invasive English ivy, and the native plantings to enhance the outdoor spaces. ##### Beth K. The pictures don't do the location justice - the house is on a large lot along the river. We spent most of the time on the property relaxing, spotting wildlife, making fires, and enjoying the hottub. We have been here before in the summer, and the kids love swimming and boating in the river - unfortunately it was too high this time around due to the recent rains. This is a picture perfect setting with tons of wildlife to sit back and enjoy. We absolutely loved it. There are other STR sites within eyesight so if all are booked it could be a little less secluded but when we visited, there were only 2 other sites rented and it still felt very secluded. ##### jeremy u. This is a great spot to either hang out and relax or head to the mountains for a hike! The space is clean, cozy and has a usefully stocked kitchen. One bedroom is quite a bit bigger than the other, but it can still comfortable sleep 4 (could feasibly sleep more on the pullout couch, but it would be tight). The location is amazing! The river and firepit are a lot closer to the house than it looks like in the photos and it's awesome. We had intended on hiking every day we were there, but the property was so inviting that we ended up spending a day just hanging out and enjoying the peace and quiet. ##### Sophie H. The amenities were great (hot tub, fire pit, proximity to hiking trails). However, there were several issues reported that went unresolved during our stay. We had mold in the master bedroom, one bathroom didn't have a working shower, and the other bathroom had a clogged sink.
