Just 7 miles from Ridgway, 17 miles from Ouray, and less than an hour from Telluride, this cozy retreat is the perfect home base for all your San Juan Mountain adventures. Blending rustic charm with modern comforts, the cabin features a private hot tub, gas grill, and smoker—ideal for unwinding or entertaining while taking in the majestic scenery. –Where You’ll Sleep– • Master Bedroom – Queen Bed • 2nd Bedroom – Double Bed –Amenities You’ll Love– • Expansive property with stunning Cimarron and Sneffels peak views • Private hot tub for relaxing after a day outdoors • Gas grill and smoker for outdoor cooking • Rustic-meets-modern mountain cabin interiors • Peaceful and private location surrounded by forest • Easy access to hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and more –Location– • 7 miles to Downtown Ridgway (12-minute drive) • 17 miles to Downtown Ouray (less than 30-minute drive) • 27 miles to Ridgway State Park (40-minute drive) • 34 miles to Telluride (50-minute drive) • Nearby access to hiking, snowmobiling, and ATV trails (road use only per HOA) –Good to Know– • STR Permit Number: STR2025-065 • Please note that, as with most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s. • Pet Policy: Up to 2 pets allowed with a $40/day pet fee (maximum $250 per stay). • Parking Policy: Driveway access only; trailers and RVs cannot be accommodated due to narrow access. • Fire Policy: No outdoor fires permitted at any Catamount properties per HOA bylaws. ATVs may only be ridden on the road. • Winter Access: 4WD/AWD vehicle with snow tires required for stays November 1 – May 1. • Please review and follow the Good Neighbor Guidelines throughout your stay. https://ouraycountyco.gov/DocumentCenter/View/21018/Good-Neighbor-Guidelines A deposit of $300 is required at the time of booking. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date forfeit the entire reservation amount while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days before the arrival date. The bedroom was large enough and well provisioned, but this is still an older cabin so keep that in mind. But that is what we loved and wanted! Only problem we had was gps navigation took us to what appeared to be a neighboring house and the driveway for the cabin was unmarked. Some sort of signage at the driveway entrance would have been very helpful. Instead we ended up going down the wrong driveway and had to call the management company. Reviewer Comments: This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Catamount Cabin; each time has been with the intent to take one of our grandchildren to see the Mountains when they are approximately age 11\. Every time, we stay here our grandkids dont want to leave and this time was no different. Introducing them to the Rockies and specifically this area has had a lasting impact, and all have wanted to stay longer! The area of Ridgeway/Ouray/Silverton is a great base camp to numerous hiking trails, off road adventures, and amazing shopping and dining!...and we will definitely stay here again in the future! Great outdoor spaces, deck and hot tub with views of the San Juans and the Milky Way! We actually saw a flaming meteor fall to earth one night. It's up the hill a ways and very private. It's just right for a small group. There were 3 of us, including my husband, 20 year old son and me. The only negative is the need to walk through one bedroom to get to the other and there's one shared shower, so I probably wouldn't rent this cabin with anyone other than close family members. When we got to property we didn’t have correct check in information but I called the number provided and in the first ring they answered and we were in! Which is rare when those types of things happen so thank you!!I did like the space the only thing to add was it is an odd layout. And the lower bathroom toilet didn’t work the entire time we were there. But we were out everyday exploring so not a huge deal! Plus upstairs toilet was fine! I do think the staircase should be included in details - able and fit and still nervous about them since they fold up and down and the top handrails don’t connect so at the highest point there is a 2’ gap. Lastly the only shower in the place is an amazing view and also a jacuzzi bathtub but the curb height to get into even take a shower … even my sister at 5’7” could not comfortably step in the tub to shower. So myself at 5’2” we would joke I was about to go hurdling to get in. Again, for my adventure it was fine but a little different than anticipated overall. ##### Rebecca H. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I stayed here about six years ago and am sad to report that it's gone downhill since. The location is still beautiful and the cabin is very well-stocked with pantry/bathroom items and games, but it could also use some TLC. The biggest disappointment was the hot tub - when I opened it the first night it was full of debris, so I called the property management company. The lady who answered was very friendly and apologetic and said she would send out the maintenance person first thing next morning. After I called, my partner pulled the filter out of the hot tub and it looked like something out of a horror film (growing algae and who knows what else), so we left it out for the maintenance person's attention. We left to go into town at noon the next day but still hadn't seen anyone. When we returned, some (not all) of the debris was gone and the same filter had been rinsed and placed back into the hot tub. I appreciated the effort and I know there probably wasn't another filter readily available, but neither of us felt comfortable soaking no matter how many chemicals had been put in the water given the state of the filter, so half the reason for booking the property was a loss as we never got to use the hot tub. My dog found a dead mouse under the master bed the second day we were there, there were quite a few cobwebs, we had to rewash several of the dishes, and the deck railing definitely needs some attention (don't lean on it). Also, it's worth noting that during the day there was also a fair amount of construction noise from down the road, so sitting on the deck wasn't really the peaceful experience I'd hoped for either. So while this is a beautiful location, my honest recommendation is to pass on this one for the time being. It was not even close to being worth the insane amount we paid for four nights with all the fees. And if you do go and want to use the hot tub... do your due diligence before getting in. ##### Amy F. Very private cabin on the ridge. Everything worked! Multiple grills onsite for meals! The only minor issue is when arriving, there is another house immediately when you turn onto the property.
