This is the gateway to see the beautiful Eastern Sierras on Highway 395\. From Ridgecrest, Kernville, Lake Isabella up to Yosemite Nation Park. Mono County offers access to Yosemite’s eastern entrance – and less crowed side – via the impressive Tioga Pass Road/SR 120 West. While U.S. Highway 395 (a state- designated Scenic Byway) is open year around, Tioga Pass Road/SR 120 West is closed for the winter months, usually from early November to late May. Whether you are here to do work with China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station or if you enjoy riding off road vehicles in the desert, this is the place to visit. Ridgecrest is a city in Kern County, California, United States, along U.S. Route 395 in the Indian Wells Valley in northeastern Kern County, adjacent to the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake. Come to Ridgecrest, the gateway to the Eastern Sierras where you will find Sequoia National Forest (U.S. Forest Service, Lake Isabella Station), and the Kern River which offers river raft rides and beautiful scenery.
