"The property is visually displeasing. The front doors have not been cleaned in a while. The headboard had a liquid splatter on it. The nightstand drawer is crooked. The phone in the bedroom is so old it's yellow. These are just a few observations that come to mind immediately. The staff and service get 5 stars. "

"This is the prime example of a grand hotel, Richmond style. The service is what you would expect from a five star hotel: impeccable. We especially appreciated the concierge, who took care of us when we had forgotten certain toiletry items and when shirts had to be laundered quickly. Breakfast and dinner were marvelous, although one of the hostesses could have been a bit more accommodating and friendly. Rooms and bathrooms were large and well appointed. Anyone contemplating a visit to Richmond should stay at The Jefferson. You will be glad you did. "

"Overall, a very nice hotel. Our room was huge — a big bedroom, good bath, and a separate living room within the suite. Staff was friendly and attentive, and the downstairs restaurant served a tasty, reasonably priced breakfast. The neighborhood was very quiet (govt center on a Friday) and there didn’t seem like a lot of options for dinner near the hotel. Didn’t look that hard, as we had reservations in a different neighborhood. All in, a good spot. Would stay there again without hesitation"
