The grasshopper is a symbol of good luck but I do not have them in the house! This single family cottage is at the end of one of the last sandy lanes in Dewey Beach. It is only 50 yards or so back from the sand dunes, beach and ocean at the end of the street. Perfect for quick trips back and forth from the beach for lunch, snacks, refreshments or naps for the little ones. Wonderful outdoor shower. No major highway to cross in this residential area. And you can easily stroll to all the restaurants and entertainment in Dewey. Or hop the Jolly Trolley on the corner for a quick fun open-air ride into Rehoboth Beach which is just one short mile up the road. This two-story, two-bedroom, 1.5 bath home is a classic cedar-shingled cottage. Tastefully furnished combined living and dining areas, fully equipped and modern kitchen, one bedroom (queen size bed) and one full bath on the ground floor With a full washer and dryer. A side entrance leads to a wonderful outdoor shower and a weber propane gas grill. The circular staircase takes you to the loft bedroom (king size bed) on the second floor with an adjoining half bath. An entrance off the second floor leads you to a dramatic rooftop deck with upholstered patio furniture, table and umbrella. Perfect for enjoying the ocean breeze, sunset and evening cocktails. This well-maintained home features warm pine paneling throughout, tongue and groove wood ceilings, vaulted ceiling in the dining/kitchen area with skylights, gleaming hardwood floors in the living areas and in the cozy loft bedroom. The living room features ample upscale seating with one full size sofa and one love seat, Custom plantation shutters and two French doors And a propane fireplace for use during the months of September and October only. There is a small deck/stoop on the front with one dedicated parking spot on the side The home has cable TV, wifi, stereo, baseboard heating and AC. Occupancy limited to four. Cottage Amenities • Patio door entry into the living area. • Two upscale leather sofas in the living room – one full and one loveseat. Ample seating. • Cable HDTV, DVD, stereo and Internet Wifi. • Three TVs – one in the living room, and one in each bedroom. • Kitchen/dining room is furnished with a big dining table and has all the equipment you might need, including a dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, oven, microwave, gas stove, and enough cutlery, utensils, plates, pots and pans for a small gathering. Coffee-maker, blender and all standard equipment is supplied. • Two bedrooms – one on the first floor with a queen size bed and one in the second floor loft with a king size bed. Designer bed coverings with comfortable updated mattresses. • Full size washer and dryer in the first floor bathroom. • 1.5 Bathrooms – one full bath with tub and shower on the first floor and one half bath on the second floor. Maybe 50 feet from the beach, this one-bedroom cottage with a king bed in the loft was perfect for our 4-night getaway over the holiday weekend.The kitchen was well-stocked and useful to save money on restaurants. The beds were extremely comfortable.I'm 6'1" so I had to remember to duck when going up the spiral stairs into the loft. My mother and I shared delightful conversation over coffee on the rooftop deck — no views, but fun nonetheless. Close enough to listen to the ocean and smell the sea spray!But honestly, we were so close to the water that our family spent all the time we could out of the house and on the shore. The outdoor shower came in clutch, with hot water (a rarity for outside showers). There was only one shower inside, but the extra shower more than made up for it, and helped to manage sand.It really felt like we were a guest in Nancy's home and my family was thrilled with our stay. I couldn't recommend Nancy or the cottage more… just please don't book during our vacation time next year!The cottage is brighter than in the photos, with the multiple skylights. And the AC units kept us cool when we were recharging from the beach.My personal favorite feature was an old ship's mast from a tall ship in the late 18th or early 19th century. Communication w/Nancy excellent and great instructions in house on how to operate everything from TV to lights & fans. Really nice gas grill too. And get a bite with your dog at “The Light House” on the Bay by The Hyatt - most dog friendly restaurant in Dewey. Been vacationing in Dewey for years and Nancy’s cottage at top of my list. Bars and restaurants to the right and the beach to the left!! We walked anywhere and everywhere we had to go. And, as all the action surrounded us, once we were inside this charming little beach cottage, all was calm, quiet and peaceful. My son and daughter and his dog joined us for the first part of the vacation from Sunday - Tuesday and then my girlfriend and her husband joined us from Wednesday- Friday after they left. The house is literally three houses from the beach. Every morning, I was able to walk just steps to the beach to see the sunrise. I’m a photographer and had the opportunity to take some amazing images during our vacation time. The house has plenty of room for four people, beds were super comfortable and the house smelled super clean when we arrived. We had a few days of wicked wind on the beach, so we opted for time on the rooftop deck, which was absolutely awesome. It was warm and cozy up there, and you can literally hear the waves crashing onto the shore from the rooftop. I can’t tell you how many times I close my eyes and drifted off. Unfortunately, our time expired and we had to go home. I would love to come back someday it is a perfect, perfect little cottage!!!!! ##### Maria C. It was equipped with everything you could possibly need. Nancy (the Host) was SO accommodating to us. She really makes you feel like you are in your home away from home!
