A great place to getaway, unplug, and relax, this 2 bedroom home can serve as your base camp for exploring the central Oregon Coast- Secluded yet only a 5 mile scenic drive to Reedsport to pick up groceries or head out to the beach. The Cottage is furnished with lots of locally handcrafted myrtlewood, maple and walnut from the Myrtlewood Gallery. The carpet has just been replaced with Pergo laminate flooring we are working on getting the photos updated. Comfortable for 2 persons but does sleeps 4 with 2 queen size beds. There are wall heaters in each room for convenient heat, a ceiling fan in the kitchen and a cozy woodstove in the living room with a little bit of wood for a cozy fire during fall winter and spring. A portable fan is also available for that rare day over 80 degrees. The kitchen is supplied with stove, microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot, toaster, dishes, pans, utensils, and dish soap. Just bring the groceries. The bathroom has a full shower/tub, hairdryer, clean towels, shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, and liquid soap. There is a Blueray/DVD player with a selection of movies for your enjoyment as well as a Bose Wave radio/CD player. A few games, puzzles and books are also available for your use. There is NO internet, cable, or cell service at the Cottage. Intermittent cell phone reception is sometimes available at the chairs by the shore. And more reliable cell reception out near Lower Smith River Rd. The large covered porch with comfortable seating is one of our favorite spots to sit and enjoy nature rain or shine. There is also a picnic table and charcoal grill is available for your use. You are welcome to bring your own canoe or kayaks and launch them from the waters edge. Just time it with the tide. The Cottage is our only pet friendly rental. There is a $50 pet fee for up to 2 dogs. Please let us know if you are bringing a pet. Please clean up and keep your dog close and supervised at all times. And please Never leave them at the Cottage unattended. If you are traveling with more than one family you can also rent our other unit, The Cozy Cattail Cabin Vrbo listing # 3853623, which is located \~100 yds from the Cottage and nestled behind the trees. (Pets, however, are Not allowed at the Cabin) Each unit would need to be booked separately. Our base rate is for up to 2 guests with an additional fee for more. Trailers are NOT recommended. If you are bringing a trailer, be aware that we do have a 10ft wide bridge with tight corners. Larger trailers are discouraged as you may have some difficulty with the inside corners. Small 8-14 ft trailers are usually OK just watch your rear trailer tire on the inside corner. Also note access is via a mile one lane gravel road, limited pullouts and tight turn around. If there is anything else you might need, let us know. We strive to provide you with Home Away From Home Comfort. Our family enjoyed playing in the yard, walking along the estuary, eating blackberries, and looking at the wildlife and wildflowers. The home was very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed grilling each night and playing games and doing puzzles. It was refreshing not to have cell service or internet and helped us focus on family time. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as we read, watched movies, and played games. Sharon was awesome as she kept me informed and accommodated our late arrival. The house was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Plenty of supplies for cooking, watching movies, and games. It took a little used to being off line but my buddy was able to get one bar of cell reception with T-Mobile. We only used it to look up places to hike and visit. Birds and otters that live on and around the estuary were in abundance. A wood burning stove took the chill off cool nights. Wood was provided. Very well equipped kitchen, linens, and bedding. Comfy beds. We were able to bring our dogs and dog beds, water bowl, and a ball were provided! Reedsport and beaches an easy drive away. No Internet but it was nice to not have the distraction. The property is beautiful as well as the cottage itself. The many pieces of wood art along with the beautiful quilts made this place unique. It was well thought out and definitely cozy. We really wanted a place to get away from the heat and let our dogs run. This place was perfect. The temperature was moderate and the many shade trees made it even cooler. It is close to the beach, but far enough away that we did not get the heavy fog and winds that are common on the coast in that area. Even though you are only a a few miles from Reedsport central, it feels very remote and is private (one neighbor close by). We had some fireworks noise but it was pretty distant and lasted a reasonable amount of time, unlike at home. The property is beautiful with lots of trees and Hudson Slough. It is on a private road so there so there was really no traffic at all. We were the only renters on the property for the duration of our stay. The interior was a slightly different than the pictures. The futon was replaced by a larger comfortable couch, the TV was mounted to the wall, some of the tables were different, the Bose sound system had been moved to the living room, and there was a cabinet at the end of the hallway that held books and games. CDs were located on the chest next to the sound system and DVDs were located on the table under the TV in the living room. The living room furniture was very comfortable and covered with pet covers since we had a dog. There was a dog bed and a bowl for water left out for our dog. This felt like a truly pet-friendly home. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed to make a meal, minus the ingredients of course. There were some spices, teas, and coffee. There was plenty of counter space and lots of cabinet space for cans, boxes, etc. of food items we brought or bought. The bathroom had a shower/tub combo plus a large medicine cabinet and drawers in the cabinet for storing items. Both bedrooms had very comfortable beds and plenty of storage space for clothes and suitcases. The washer and dryer were the best I've ever used. Large enough to wash anything we needed to wash. The garage was where the trash and recycling cans were located plus the charcoal grill, life vests, fishing pulls, and a crab pot. The main noises we heard during the day were birds, the wind, and animals moving in the forest around the house. At night, it was owls and animals moving around. We had an owl land in the yard one day, a hummingbird that liked to stop by to catch bugs, and deer visited the yard a lot. Our dog loved exploring the property, swimming at high tide, and going out on the forest service roads to explore. If you do travel with a dog, look into using a Seresto Flea and Tick Collar due to the deer on the property even if you use another form of flea and tick med. We have stayed in several vacation homes in the last 13 years and this was our favorite. Our dog loved it so much, she didn't want to leave which was a first. ##### Diana B. No cable, no WiFi, no cell phone service. Just peaceful. This was a return trip for us. The owner is easy to work with and very pleasant.
