We booked this property expecting a clean, safe place to stay but were completely shocked and disgusted to find cockroaches. They were crawling in the kitchen, We immediately contacted Vrbo and they said it was difficult but finally managed to get in contact with the host. Vrbo’s customer service downplayed the issue and said they could “just spray in the morning and it would be fine for us to finish our stay there.”Absolutely not!! Cockroach infestations are a serious health hazard, not a quick fix. They carry bacteria like Salmonella, E. coli, and Staph, and can trigger asthma and allergies. We also had our dogs with us, and exposing pets to both cockroaches and pesticides is dangerous and unacceptable.We had to scramble for another place to stay in the middle of the night, after traveling, with pets in tow, because there was no way we were going to sleep in a home with roaches. They offered no real help and acted like this was no big deal at first. They finally said they will give us a full refund and said they were doing it at that moment…but we only saw a small amount refunded. After a phone call AGAIN, they did say we will have the full refund, including the cleaning fee. We will see if they are true to their word. (Our conversations are recorded)This experience completely ruined our plans and cost us time, energy, and more money than expected. We hope VRBO holds this listing accountable. No one should ever have to deal with this kind of situation.
