Good location just a very short walk from all activities in Queenstown centre. Nice little room with fridge, microwave, kettle and electric heater. Bathroom was spacious with separate toilet room. Shower water pressure and temperature would randomly fluctuate continuously, probably when the laundry facilities were going in the next door room. Staff were very happy to change notes for coins for the self serve laundry facilities (limited hours of operation before 6pm). Overall we had a very comfortably and enjoyable stay!

Really enjoyed our stay at the Amber Lodge. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the room itself was well-equipped with all the basics. Despite having some pretty major road works outside - which was not ideal - it's in a brilliant location, literally metres from the centre of town - great for exploring!

It is ok for short stay.
Overall our stay in the 2 bedroom unit was comfortable, as the living room, kitchen and bathroom are reasonably large and overall the place is quite clean. It is disappointing that the internet was bad, bedrooms were both quite small, the living room and kitchen were both really dark and the motel was not serviced. On the other hand the people at the reception desk are quite nice and helpful. It looks like an old motel so repairs and maintenance are needed. Location of the motel is good. It is ok if you want short stay.

Fantastic location (apart from the current roadworks outside) clean, rooms and friendly, helpful staff. Place is in need of some upkeep and the rooms are not serviced but would most definitely stay again.

Quiet & nice place, full kitchen although we didn’t use much it if because they are near good restaurants. Great view of the mountains with their big glass windows. Walking distance to city, wharf and tourist areas.

Decent sized but older style studio, carpets quite worn out but still a comfortable stay overall and beds were good. Great location, within a few mins walk to main shopping area and supermarket, bus stop.

The lodge is average but ok - comfortable bed, nice kitchen, great location. Washing machine was abysmal and to find someone in reception to talk to was a miracle

Thank you for your review. It says on the washing machine that it takes a very long time and this is due to them digging up the road and it has coursed problems with our water supply beyond my control. Not sure why you couldn't find anyone in reception we open at 8.30 close at 6pm and the only time I wouldn't be here would be if I popped out for an appointed etc and this is because I run it on my own so sometimes a have to close. You could have also rung if you needed something

Proximity to the main town was fantastic. Unfortunate roadwork right out the front of the property. The only advantage with this is there was no traffic noise. Wifi was horrible.

Convenient location
We booked the 2 room unit for 5 of us. Room was a bit squeezy for 5 plus our luggages. Kitchen was well equipped so we managed to do some cooking. Bed was too soft but most of the places we stayed had the same issue so its a matter of preference. Within minutes of walking to town centre and the gondola. Four squares supermarket 3 minutes walk.

It was clean and very close to the CBD. Great value for money as it has everything you need and if you're not worried about being in a new complex then I would recommend it

Friendly owner, nice clean unit, wifi wasnt great, washing machine in laundry took around 3 hours for a small wash, maybe a water issue at the time? Shower drain overflowed, but we worked out how to pull the blocked section out to stop water overflowing out of the shower. Unfortunately major road works happening on the road outside motel while we were there, so noise was pretty awful, but luckily only during day. Not great sound proofing between units, we were in unit 5, the unit below us had people up chatting and laughing throughout the night and then from around 5am onwards, which was pretty annoying. Very central though, and reasonably priced. Would go back again.

Thank you for your review. Theres a few things I wish you had come and said about, the washing machine normally only takes an hour to do a load so not sure why that was but I may have been able to have a look at the time. Also they wifi is (not sure what its called) but the fast fibre so once again not sure why it wasn't working and I didnt have anyone else say that theres wasn't. Have since had the shower looked at sorry we didnt know this was happening. You should never have to put up with noise you can ring me and I would sort it out Im sorry this happened to you. As for the roads works completely out of my control and we haven been putting up with it for months!!!!!!! We would love to have you back and hopefully by then the road works are finished....

It was close to the town center walking distance to the shops and waterfront, good view of the mountains. However, the Lodge provided tea, coffee, and milk only for the first day's stay after that you had to pay if you wanted for the rest of the stay also they do not provide soap.

Thank you for your feedback but am very confused at where you got that I was going to charge you for tea coffee etc as no where does it say this and I certainly never said it. Also if your soap containers where empty once again as I mentioned on many occasions please come and tell us so we can refill them....

very comfortable stay in our upgraded mountain view room, comfortable bed, good shower and plenty of room in our studio. Amber Lodge was perfectly positioned for us as one of us used a walking stick, very close to bus stops and supermarket, in fact all of the CBD area was very close. Owner very friendly and helpful. Good to have a laundry and to be able to do a load of washing prior to moving on to our next holiday home.

Great Motel close to Queenstown Township! Value +
Amber Lodge is an older style motel and the price you pay clearly reflects that. Such great value for money! The motel is also very clean, the kitchen well stocked with utensils, pots etc. No stove but there is a cooktop and microwave plus a fridge. The beds were comfortable and the linen was well laundered, crisp and clean. The room was super cosy with a good heater which kept us warm. Parking onsite was excellent and right near our room. We even got upgraded to a larger suite. The owner was so great to deal with and probably one of the nicest people we have dealt with. Very personable and friendly. Easy walk, just a few minutes, to the main shopping area. Great access to all of Queenstown's many amenities. Overall, comfortable accommodation, excellent value and fantastic location. Would definitely stay here again. ps: This is the second time staying here!

The staff is lovely and helpful, the room was spotlessly clean and it was handy to have a full kitchen and plunger coffee was unexpected and appreciated. Great location, being walking distance to town was great as parking was terrible due to road works.

Room 3 terrible with damp and moldy smell.
Very damp, mold smell room of Room 3. Bed isn't as good as a backpacker place. Hair dryer not working. I stayed 2 nights there and dare not stay there and wait until bedtime to go back to sleep only. Good location though. Not good value for money.

I am sorry to hear that you didnt enjoy your stay with us. The room you booked is our budget studio which is a very small studio but Im not sure why it had a smell and wished you had came and told us so we could have sorted it out and the same goes with the hairdryer if people dont tell us we cant fit it. Sorry about the bed but as it is a reasonably new one it must have been either to soft or hard and its difficult to please everyone with beds.

Greg&I were very pleased with the stay , there were a couple of things that I told Sue the owner and she was able to explain for us .. We love being able to cook some meals as eating out all the time isn’t our thing , we like to have meals at acc, and with the cook top and electric frying, we were able to do this .. We love the location as it was in walking distance to almost everything Local.. Thank you Sue 😀😀😀😀
