Really nice and convenients

Posted 12-Mar-2017
Pros: the commodity, the cleanliness and the ambiance
Cons: The guy at the reception had a bossy attitude but again it was so busy! Also I find 4pm a bit late for check in.
Location: Very close to stores, 10 min drive from downtown Quebec city and right in front of Laval University.
My stay was excellent the only downside was the fact that it was spring break and they were to many people but that is not the hotel fault. I loved the decor and the accommodation like the pool, spa, boston pizza on site... I would go back there for sure, the kids loved it.

Affordable accommodations near to Laval University

Posted 11-Mar-2017
Pros: The staff and the price
Location: There isn't much in the area except the university and a few pubs
The staff is great; fully bilingual and very friendly. The accommodations are clean and the food at that Boston Pizza actually tastes good; not like other BPs where I've eaten. It's a short walk to Laval University, and affordable. There's a fridge so if you buy wine, beer, etc. at the store, you can relax in your room after a hard day at work. It's nice to hear the birds chirping by the indoor swimming pool. It's small but well landscaped.

Good overall experience

Posted 9-Mar-2017
We stayed in for 3 nights. When we got there at 6h pm our room wasn't ready, but the staff was really nice, they kept our luggage while we went eating at the Boston Pizza (which was nice to have in the same building). The room was clean when we got there (although, I found a long hair in the bathtub behind the curtains, but it didn't bother me). Lots of "wear and tear" but that also didn't bother us. The cleaning of the room for the following mornings was a little deceiving. (They forgot to replace our towels and didnt clean the coffee machine nor left us more coffee and cream/sugar....) but the beds where made. My bed mattress felt a little "springy" but I slept well anyways. The pool was fun for the kids they really enjoyed it. (It is small, don't expect a large pool). The pool area is great, chairs and tables to hangout. There were clowns performing tricks and makeup/ balloons for kids.

Last time I stay here

Posted 6-Mar-2017
Room was borderline acceptable. It was clean but REALLY in need of an update. Forget the pool. It looks good in photos but it's tiny and no lifeguard/supervisor to keep unaccompanied kids in check. We left after 10 min because it was not safe. Not enough parking spaces for hotel capacity. That's just ridiculous.

Noisy, very noisy

Posted 27-Feb-2017
Pros: convenient location, many restaurants and things nearby
Cons: go elsewhere for quietness.
This hotel is a very noisy place and it was difficult to sleep well.

Universel Hotel - DO NOT go there

Posted 5-Dec-2016 on Hotels
I was there on December 1-4. two days for work by myself and one day for pleasure with my family. There was a hockey tournament and it was very very noisy in the spa-pool area. Kids were running around, they were screaming, jumping in the pool from the rocks, throwing things. On the saturdaynight there was not life guard. We had to complain to the front desk because it was also dangerous the way they were jumping in. They were unsupervised and they were also in the steam room & jacuzzi . I coudl not relax. Also there was noises in the hallway until very late, I had early morning meetings. The mattress were not comfortable and the room was not worth the price for saturday night. I would not return and not recommend this hotel especially if there are tournaments going on. There should be more supervision in the pool-spa area. Also on the friday night I went to boston pizza by myself and she told me there was NO room for one person. I was upset and then noticed a small table in the corner and asked her if I couldsit there and then she said yes.

Overpriced but decent location. Needs better care

Posted 25-Oct-2016 on Hotels
Room cleanliness: - decent, however the carpet in our room looked aged and the bed sheets had some faint stain (was clean but clearly old). Economy Room: - I guess you get what you pay for.. still a bit overpriced for such a small room with no microwave. There is a microwave you can access downstairs 24/7. - Room is quite small. Not much wiggle room, but as mentioned earlier.. it is an (overpriced) economy room. Overall hotel cleanliness: - there was a pile of leftover vegetables and dip in the common veranda area (in front of the elevators on the 4th floor) for 2 days... still wasn't cleaned up as we checked out. It was a stark reminder how unclean the rest of the place likely is. Pool and sauna: - I had been here ~5 years ago when it was renovated. It was fantastic. Now, the sauna only had 1 panel working. The other sauna was barely hot and no adjustment available. They need to ensure it is maintained properly. - No lifeguard on the Friday but there was one on Saturday. Not sure why. Overall, still overpriced and parking was difficult that weekend. If I return to QC again, I will be open to trying a different hotel.

Very friendly staff, so clean, and so comfy!

Posted 10-Oct-2016
Pros: So clean and comfortable. The staff was always prompt.
Cons: Location. You're looking at a 15-20 minute drive to old Quebec.
Location: Lots of g rockery shops nearby if you're staying for a while
