Had a late arrival and early departure so pre-arranged for room to be left unlocked and departed before any staff were up. Just needed a bed for the night mid journey and Crest was ideal for the $.
No frills but very easy and comfortable enough.
I was late getting in, staff contacted me and arranged to charge my card and give me the pin code to access the room. I was hoping for a room upgrade, but this didn't happen so my lady friend and I had to snuggle in a double.
We stayed here for 2 week nights and although the motel is off the main road, the street closest to the back of most rooms gets busy and woke us early both mornings. A bit frustrating as we had late nights listening to the TV in the room next to us through the single brick common wall.
Our room's main light was pulled apart and not working and the smoke/fire detector was also missing. The blind on the main window would not raise or lower so I fixed that one myself.
The room itself was comfortable and very clean but I don't think the cleaning staff are communicating with management over small issues that should be picked up and fixed before new guests arrive.
Another issue is when all the rooms are booked out, parking is a nightmare with no spare spaces, all minimum width and packed in like sardines. Okay if you're driving a Carolla, but a real challenge in a big four-wheel-drive. And there's always someone that can't park evenly between the lines.
I would recommend staying here but was expecting more after reading other reviews and ratings.
Overall, I think it's fair value.
This is the second time I have stayed at the motel which was for a period of 10 days.
Customer service is friendly, welcoming, non-judgmental and down to earth. The reason I stayed in Queanbeyan was important to me in that I had not seen my child for a longtime. Therefore spending time with my child was important.
It was clear to me that motel staff were family orientated and family friendly, not only in the way they treated my son and I but also in the way I saw their treatment of others staying at the motel.
The motel staff showed a genuine interest in the people who stayed in the motel.
The facilities were crisp, clean and there were quite a lot of extras that went with the towels etc.
Motel staff always checked if there was anything needed and in a manner that I felt comfortable to ask for anything I needed.
The smoking policy has changed since I stayed at the motel last time. I am a smoker. This policy was pointed out to me in a friendly way and the area where smoking was permitted. I am not sure if the entrance at the motel as a smoking area is all that good for the motel but, the cleanliness was evident of cigarettes butts.
Spending time with my child was definitely positive and I felt comfortable enough to hang out at the motel as we spent a lot of time talking and catching up.
16 km (10 miles) southeast of Capital Hill, the suburb of “Queen Bean” sits on the Queanbeyan River just outside the ACT in New South Wales. The Queanbeyan and District Museum, open Sundays only (hours subject to change) displays local history. Molonglo Gorge Nature Reserve, to the north, offers bushwalks.
