A disaster-poorly maintained and poorly managed
We arrived at the condo to find the exterior patio door had no lock. No lock at all. Immediately contacted local VACASA contact and were told to put a broom in it to keep it secure. Even if that had been a satisfactory response - which it wasn't- the door to the laundry room (which we were supposed to have access to and contained brooms/mops) was locked. There was no drinking water provided nor even instructions that the water was not potable (which it is not). The appliances were dirty - the microwave was full of crumbs from previously cooked foods) - and there were no instructions on how to use the oven/microwave and stove. In reality there were no instructions for anything. The bedrooms were satisfactory though not clean. I dropped something that went under the bed and the layers of dirt and dust were disgusting. There were three patios in the unit - which would have been lovely except there was not a stick of furniture on any of them -so they were completely unusable. Things only got worse. Then we realized that there was NO HOT WATER. WE had no hot water for 5 days. The electricity went out because VACASA hadn't paid for the electric. Then the ceiling in one of the bedrooms began leaking - resulting in a hole in the ceiling and an unusable bedroom. I spent hours for days on the phone with VACASA to attempt to get the issue fixed. We finally demanded a refund and rented a unit from a local agency.
