Excellent hotel close to beach and shops!!!Posted 18-Oct-2017
My experience in Melia Tropical The Level Side was very very good. I stayed at Melia from 10/13-10/17 would liked to stay longer. This hotel is huge and transportation is always available. Have to give a shoutout to Reynaldo and Ramon from the transportation service. This guys make me feel like i was someone from there family gave me great service not only that they are very knowledgeable of the hotel. Also i had a great time in the hotel from Entertaiment to food and services is was a great experience. Not only the great experience i attended my girlfriend bother wedding on 10/14/17 and wedding was excellent even though it was hot wearing that suit but overall excellent service from the staff. Thank you MELIA TROPICAL for making feel like home.

Attended a WeddingPosted 13-Oct-2017
Pros: The fascilities and food
Cons: Transportation and customer service in general
I was there for a wedding last weekend. The checking took a lot of time and we were not informed about where we could eat (time restaurants etc) or transportation to go to the room. We were so hungry but we thought we could go to the room, change, and then eat. Well.... transportation was sooooo shot (and that's an understatement). We spent 20 minutes waiting for the little train. By the time we blinked the train was full... then we had to wait again. When we finally made it to the room and came back to eat at the buffet was close leaving my two boys and my boyfriend with no choice than snacks. I would say my biggest complain is the transportation. Other than that the facilities are beautiful and food is delicious. Work on better communication Melia! your customers were upset. Must of us at least during my stay.

Friendly & courteousPosted 13-Oct-2017
Love the beach granted it had some seaweed which we have never incountered in the past. But totally understandable that it would be because of hurricane Maria. Food as always delicious. Only thing I did miss having the paella made down at the beach restaurant. I wish there were servers at the beach & pool area to get our drinks. But honestly the staff at Meliá are humble & hard working & always treated us like family. The activities st the beach were fun. Bartender were funny.

Be prepared to waitPosted 12-Oct-2017
The hotel is beyond huge The only way for you to get around is via golf cart or trolley Be prepared to wait Check in was slow I waited about 20 min before a rep tended to me, mind you they were all doing nothing at the desk After waiting to be checked in I had to wait for a room cus there were none available When I finally got to my room the door was wide open . A driver named Michael was extremely unpleasant My key didn’t work, granted they did come and fix that problem by changing the cylinder but b4 that I was locked outta my rm in the wee hours of the morning. I don’t have anything nice to say about this hotel

Horrible Service/Not Child FriendlyPosted 10-Oct-2017
I just returned from a 5 night 4 day trip with my 4 year old twin girls, my one year old son and my mother who uses a cane to walk around. We where there for my cousins wedding and my daughters were the flower girls. This place is not accommodating at all unless you stay on the side that they consider The Level. On two occasions I called the front desk and asked if one of the golf cart drivers could assist me in getting from our room to one of the restaurants since I had the three kids and a stroller and it was difficult for my mother to get on their regular train which takes guests from place to place and I was told that since I was not one of the guests from the level area I could not be accommodated and that I should just wait on the train. Mind you their train runs every twenty minutes so waiting for it in dead heat with three kids is quite difficult. They put us on a second floor suite and I went to the front desk and asked if we could be moved due to my mom's disability, the attendants response was well we already upgraded you to a different suite than the one you booked since you are part of the wedding party. This property must disclose on their website that unless you book to stay at the Level you will only receive mediocre service. I will never return to this property and will definitely not be recommending it to anyone. Only reason I gave it two starts was because of the super nice cleaning lady we had and because of one amazing gold cart driver named Michael

Very nice hotelPosted 1-Oct-2017
We got there right after hirricane maria and they were in the process of cleaning the place. The restaurants were decent but nothing great. In fact, the dominican republic restaurant was mostly closed during our stay. The entertainment guys such as Julio and Tony at the level pool were amazing with my family. The hotel also has nightly shows that are fun.

Huge ResortPosted 18-Sep-2017
The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. The staff was respectful and very helpful . The food was mediocre but the restaurant had better food than the marketplace. The only real downfall to this resort was how big it is ...there's a lot of walking involved and the train doesn't have a set schedule so you could either be walking all day or catching the train all day .

Massive resort on the waterPosted 18-Sep-2017
Pros: I loved the customer service and the night life. Many resorts shut down after 9pm, Melia offers a fun nightlife inclusive of shows and dancing.
Cons: The food at the buffet
Location: I would recommend staying in the resort. It offers all that you need.
VIP is definitely the way to go, access to nicer pools, ALL the restaurants, much nicer rooms, and better food.
